Starting a new project before I've even unpacked my suitcase yet? It's more likely than you might think
A picture of an old beat-up suitcase with a pile of skirt panels on it made of embroidered white organza, pink brocade, and white cotton

It sounded like a banshee screaming outside. Not a fox. Possibly a car. I'm sure everything is fine.

My very reasonably sized skirt pockets and I are feeling called out
A photo of my hand atop the skirt pocket I made a while ago for scale. This was an in-progress photo of the construction process, so the pocket wasn't actually in the skirt here but I stitched it together and added it later. All this is to say Big Skirt means Big Pocket

“Some people might say it's really important for LGBTQ+ kids to see themselves in the past,” said Rouse. “I think it's even more important for non-LGBTQ+ kids to see that LGBTQ+ people have always existed.”

I write this for a few reasons.

1) Accountability on something specific.

2) To model to swaths of Jewish leadership that *it's possible* to take accountability for genocide complicity.

3) To talk about repentance & repair work post-genocide.

It all still matters. It doesn't stop mattering now.

Please believe me when I tell you:

Double the fuck down on your spiritual practice now.

You are going to need it.

And no, that doesn't have to be a prayer-god thing.

The thing that sustains and nourishes you.

That makes you more alive to yourself, the world, others.

More present.

Asimov’s 3 Laws of Muppets:

1: A Muppet may injure a human

2: A Muppet must not obey orders given by a human

3: A Muppet must protect the existence of The Muppet Show Theatre as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws

Trump found another $20 BILLION to give to Argentina, totaling their bailout to $40 BILLION.

Yet we can’t afford to prevent millions of Americans from losing their healthcare.

Shame.

That’s $5 billion more than the entire annual USAID budget. All to one country. To rescue one friend of the president’s.

‼️ this was a striking moment, to me

Louisiana was basically like 'here come these Black people always asking for more' and Justice Jackson was like, 'that's not what the fuck they're asking for, they're saying: stop discriminating against us'
elienyc.bsky.social
Louisiana: "The plaintiffs came in and said 'we want a second majority-minority district."
KBJ: "NO THEY DID NOT. They said our votes are being dilluted."
Louisiana: "That's the same thing."
KBJ: "No it's not. ... trust me on this."

This part highlights Black men's in style in the military.

This sign I made for a 2018 protest march is still relevant today.
Screen grab from a photo in The Atlantic magazine of 1 July 2018, showing photos from the many "Families Belong Together" marches of late June protesting the first Trump administration's policy of tearing immigrant families apart and incarcerating children away from their parents.

In downtown Chicago, a protester (me) holds a sign: At the top in black letters on bright yellow it says "We *are* what we *do*". Then there are side by side cartoon images. On the left in black and white four sad little girls stare at us with large dark eyes, two hugging, the smallest in a t-shirt with a daisy on it, in a black shadowy space with chain link fencing above and behind them. On the right in full color the Statue of Liberty against a clear blue sky looks straight at us sternly as her arms cradle a collection of men, women, children and babies all facing her, some of the children and babies reaching towards her. At the bottom the sign says "Which are we?"
