Earlier this year, an excavation in Rousay by @uhiarchaeology.bsky.social uncovered an expressive carved stone face. We have a similar fellow in the cathedral, so archaeologists visited today to examine them side by side!

Fantastic portrait of a 50-year-old woman with excellent lace, painted in 1619 by Cornelis Johnson. It's been his day.

I read that Biden offered the SAME deal as has just been "implemented".

I know I’m not team bovid, but it would take a heart of stone not to admire this 10,600 year old Aurochs from Vig in Denmark. #archaeology 🏺
Photo of a huge cattle skeleton - it’s easily 6ft at the shoulder and is stained dark brown after being buried in sediment. It’s standing on a low black shiny plinth and has large forward-curving horncores.

Great photo. A couple of months ago I sent you a message. Do you know?

PATHS
Since I was little I've been attracted to paths.
A path through trees is charming.
A path between mountains is excellent.
A path along a stream is peaceful.
BON DIA ♥️ AMICS MEUS

The other way to proceed is to only cite things you've read. I was once advised by a referee of a paper that it would be stronger with some citations of art historians added to the bibliography. Instead I decided to read some art history and found it illuminating. But not as the referee said.

People who say "you can't possibly read everything you cite" are saying a lot about themselves, IMO.

It doesn't have to be a heavy lift. I spend about half an hour a day processing new-to-me papers by organizing them in my reference managers & adding topical tags so I can create bibliographies.

Living a moral life in an age of bullies requires collective action; it cannot be done alone. Each of us must organize and participate in a vast network of moral resistance. From this solidarity we will grow stronger. This is what our current moment requires.

The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion.

The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion.

Read that back.

When 400 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

Assuming it was a fair election. I suspect the evidence could show that he had fixes in in 2016, 2020 and 2024.

Which country has a press that does "patient and rigorous work" and can the billionaires buy it to put an end to such dangerous information?😜

My only worry is that such is the nature of the regime in your country that there might be an edict to kill all frogs so people will not know what they are. That would be sad.
On the other hand there will always be this picture to show the world how ridiculous your regime is.

I was sitting over a beer with two very distinguished people when the Google Car drove past us. Not visible on the Google Street Map of that square.

"Why were Palestinians forced to negotiate an end to their own genocide?

It's really quite repulsive that Palestinians have had to negotiate
an end to their genocide.

It should have been that the world put sanctions on Israel to stop the genocide."
