🫂 Though look me up when you're back in the homeland. Be glad to take you on a whirlwind tour of my favorite eating places and trainwatching spots. (Might need a whole weekend; they are legion.)

If you consider him a celebrity, I once met Jim Wrinn, editor of Trains Magazine, completely by accident. Took my dad on a trainwatching tour for his birthday, and we went to Dolton. Jim and his wife rolled up to watch some SD50Fs come through. I showed him which way to look from my maps.

I once met him completely by accident. I took my dad on a tour of trainwatching sites south of Chicago for his birthday. We'd pulled up to Dalton and a red Jeep drove up with Trains door stickers and UP 4014 license plate. He was there to catch some SD50Fs on their way through.

I was out trainwatching and driving through a mostly immigrant, working class neighborhood in Georgia near a chicken processing plant, and said to myself, I don’t hate these people. I can’t make myself hate them. And I can’t sit with people who hate. Let the chips fall where they may. And from then

rocket shot up 300 feet into the sky like the box
said it would … he was REALLY amazed.
One of the coolest things ever.

Most things like this he would have
to tell people about over the years,
because they just missed them.
That day his comic books and monster models
and his trainwatching reveries

TRAINSPOTTING AT TEIGNMOUTH | 10.10.2022
A beautiful stretch of line across the coast of South Devon is home to a stunning spot to watch passenger trains go by at high speed. So often we only see the front of these iconic structures, it's even cooler to see the back. Kinda wish they had some downward angled windows in at least one room for trainwatching!

You know how all dads have Their Thing? My dad's is trainwatching which is ADORABLE but once he took my sister and me with him, when we were little, and let us play in a sandy lot nearby that turned out to be a toxic waste dump! So I have a villain origin story, thanks Dad!
