“I’M A GEOLOGIST IN A DISCORDANT THRONG!
You are a botanist, there in your cheap sarong,
He’s a philatelist, pricing his postage wrong,
What-a tri-o we-make,
This dri-vers li-cence is-fake.”

Alles Spielgeld.

I was an avid stamp collector back then. Still am but have slowed down a bit. This is one of my prized items even though I have many others of greater value in #Philatelist eyes, a few non-inverted Jenny's, first self adhesive from Seychelles, etc. But this one strikes me is unique and hits home. 📭

I lived in Medinah at the time of this PGA Championship. Tiger won that. I parked cars on our lawn for $. I got these from the Post Office a block away. All Pure mint condition. Stored well. I have 10. Any #philatelist / #StampCollector out there who can elaborate on this Commemorative Issue?

Anyone can be a journalist in precisely the same way that anyone who has stamps can be a philatelist.

That's not to belittle stamp collectors: it's to explain that anyone who writes a journal of what they observe is a journalist.

Nothing else counts.

First day of issue #StarWars stamps. The Anakin versus Obi-Wan and Queen Padme have really nice art.

William, aka Liam Dúlasair aka Darth Grunzl is a keen philatelist, vice-chair of the pomological society and likes hacking governments. He never leaves home without his sword stick. Rumours that he's the reason for the demise of the Kloiber's young cucmber plants are strongly exaggerated.

I've been philatelist-adjacent since the mid-1970s so I had to look this up. From what I can tell, the only way to get rolls through the USPS online store is by "subscription". They will only sell you sheets of 20 postcard stamps unless you subscribe to stamp rolls. Maybe local POs don't see demand?

A lovely old philatelist (sadly no longer with us) once gave a preamble to a display of Railway Stamps, starting with "Inside every stamp collector is a latent trainspotter."
Up early planning my morning for spotting trains at my local station, Seaham. It's rare that I come across one Ive not seen before but today there are two. At approximately 0844 the 180106 will be passing through platform 1 and at 1103 the 156487 will be stopping at platform 2. #trainspotting

Christmas is reaching a fever pitch out in the countryside! With nothing to indicate the occasion whatsoever, we've had a Christmas card from our postman, Steve, PLUS International flavourings through our letterbox this morning! The interest of my inner philatelist delightedly piqued🎄🇺🇲🇦🇺
