Of course, they can't deviate from script or procedure, so an individual NBNCo tech is coming Tuesday. They will find that there is nothing wrong at my place and it is a problem with the cable elsewhere.

Ausnet messed around with the power lines today. Came home to fire service near (but not at) my house. Now, no cable internet (the presence of firies and this seems connected). Of course NBNCo outage site says no outages, so was stuck in chat hell with service provided support person.

Australians are enjoying faster internet as NBNCo delivers a serious speed boost at no extra cost. australianapplenews....

Yeah NBNCo cancelled three of my appointments without an update. Took multiple days off work waiting for them too.

Absolute shit company to deal with.

just got off the phone from my ISP and apparently NBNco have cancelled my appointment for the 7th and pushed it back to the 20th with zero explanation or reason??? Very cool
October 5, 2025 at 7:43 AM
Isn’t the same dickhead who stuffed up NBNCo now doing the same to Optus?

NBNCo has given hundreds of thousands of users a massive speed boost. How can you ensure your network doesn't put the brakes on?https://australianapplenews.com/2025/09/24/how-to-get-the-full-benefit-of-the-nbn-speed-boost/
How to get the full benefit of the NBN speed boost
NBNCo boosted broadband speeds for hundreds of thousands of Australians on 14 September 2025. The free speed boosts are great news but not everyone will feel the full benefit.

Just a heads up to Australians - if your ISP is claiming credit for giving you faster speeds… no. This was given to you by NBNco and ISPs have to comply:

Some real Anthony Clark “I made this” energy coming from these ISP announcements
September 17, 2025 at 10:22 PM
yeah pretty much. his ISP told him to call NBNco and NBNco told him to call his ISP lol
September 9, 2025 at 8:02 PM
yeah exactly, this is a VDSL2 service so it's delivered over POTS. best i can get thanks to that POTS connection which is from my apartment to the complex MDF. outside the jurisdiction of NBNco so they won't replace it and lmao if my landlord would pay to replace it with Cat6.

Three good things today.

1. Even though I don't have internet, I still have power. Considering that the #nbnco page claims that the #nbnoutage is due to a "power outage", while the electricity website declares that there aren't any power outages in the area, not to […]

NBNCo: yeah there is some kind of outage affecting your area, we're working on it
NBNCo: *posts various times they think things will be fixed and then deletes them*
Aussie Broadband: some fucker has cut a cable, civil works are required

Back into the office for me today

I see NBNCO (Australia) have signed a deal with Amazon to use their low earth orbit shell to replace the SkyMuster service.

How many satellites does Amazon have in orbit? 78 and plans to launch 80+ more!!! Wow.

How many does Starlink have? 8075 (operational)

Yeah, as much as we like to shit on our internet providers (for valid reasons), things are getting better.

I still remember (pre-NBN) 20+ years ago paying a lot more money for 100/2 (down/up) service via a pay tv operator.

NBNco.

This was snuck in while the Australian election was on. One of the dirtiest moves I've ever seen.

NBNCo should be doing this. It’s probably too late now, but we should have legislated to make it the default LEO operator in Australia.

We should also be liaising with other countries on a regulatory regime to deal with their responsible deployment and decommissioning.

iTWire - Optus consortium to build and launch sovereign LEO satellite
A consortium led by Australian telco Optus has announced it will build, launch and operate a sovereign Australian Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite, scheduled to go live in 2028. The consortium also inc...

Sigh. The NRF really are the new NBNCo - tens of millions spent with little, if anything, to show for it. A totally pointless organisation.

Audit reveals the NRF has no financial strategy despite $436m in deals
The Albanese's flagship reconstruction fund has been rebuked for lacking a formal financial strategy and for other lapses, though its governance is "largely sound".

Makes sense - here in Aus I think the NBNCo bought out (most of?) those existing networks (including some dodgy HFC that the taxpayer inevitably overpaid for)
July 10, 2025 at 2:46 PM
Yeah, Chorus owns the network though and wholesales it to the ISPs (same model in Aus with NBNCo)
