also GRRM has mentioned offhandedly about regretting killing a character off and while many, including myself, took that to mean maester aemon, reading this chapter of Dance had me wondering if it might have been, of all people, quentyn martell

For example, is anything going to come from the Tattered Prince and his quest for Pentos? Or Arch-Maester Marwyn leaving Oldtown to go and try to be Daenerys' Gandalf? Maybe - if GRRM decides it would be good story. If not, then they'll get tied up (possibly in an off-hand mention) or pushed aside.

I didn't read it, but isn't one of his later spinoffs like this? Is it "Fire and Blood?" Like the narrative frame is a maester recounting all this stuff and admitting some of the sources could be garbage? Something like that.
