guestbooks are still alive and well btw. I have one for my site and one for my fic archive for commenting regarding orphaned fics. It's a neat little way to communicate with people. Even if you don't have a website I think you should have one for communication, it's neat!

I'm always curious who writes in guestbooks on Zelenskyy's behalf. Videos and photos only show him signing it, not writing the message. The English grammar here is too perfect so I don't think it's him.
it's hard, people's habits have changed so much. i long to return to the sweet embrace of guestbooks and forums but i don't know if i even could at this point. so i just try to hold social media loosely lol

I can't decide if this is Zelenskyy's actual handwriting or not. The signature is definitely his, and the handwriting matches other guestbooks he's signed, but it's SO NEAT.

We had email and chats and guestbooks and early BBS. There were no massive numbers for likes or shares, you had a visitor counter at most, and aside from maybe doing a kiriban, that didn't matter either, it was just a number. But I did have people email me or leave comments, requests in guestbooks.

thinking about guestbooks. it's a relic from an era where (1.) the gap between "irl" and "internet" was massive, enough so that "logging on" was kind of a significant act. and (2.) it was pre-web 2.0. a rare way to leave a small mark online before social media. (ignoring forums etc)
