It looked large for a Red-necked when seen alongside Great-crested Grebes. Dusky cheeks also not what I was expecting to see.

There are probably ways to make a joke involving beef sticks and transgender humans, without actually denigrating transgender humans for being transgender, but this was not one of them.

Fortunately I only eat seafood.

Okay and fresh sea-poultry like grebes, cormies, gulls, loons, and surf scoters.

Incredible scenes at Musselburgh today, when no woolly hat was required despite it still being January! Lots of Great Crested Grebes (80+) but few seaduck, auks or other grebes, and not many waders. But dry & sunny, and good to be out 🙂 #BirdingScotland #BirdingLothian

Today I went straight from work to Cheddar Reservoir, where I enjoyed great views of the Red-necked Grebe. It was close to the Axbridge tower and caught a couple of fish while I was watching it. My attempts to find the Black-necked Grebes were thwarted by failing light and rain.

Sparrow hums thoughtfully, scanning Nickys face ".He is a grebe" he blinks "Gesundheit" "Grebes are known for their grand gestures and extravagant mating dances, but are some of the most skilled diving birds and dedicated partners. Males even take turns incubating the eggs and feeding their partner"
