$181 bn worth of investor tax handouts are raising the cost of housing. Investor lending is running hot & now economy wide inflation is in resurgence. Labor’s 5% scheme, alongside massive subsidies for property investors are spiking housing costs, the biggest driver of inflation.

Just wait, the economy hasn’t taken the hit that is coming. Metals are plummeting, signaling a bad economy world wide. Even crypto value is getting destroyed. When the layoffs start in the US, people are going to be mad trump did all this ON PURPOSE.

Stanley Kubrick knew. RIP.

The last thing i want to do is watch Eyes Wide Shut again. But in due time I will. he thought pedophiles ruled the world.

There's nothing 47 won't do to distract from this. He's tanking the economy on purpose (imo) so we turn inward and focus on self-survival.

There are offsets. Firms are doing more with less, although the boost to productivity growth associated with AI is more of firm specific than economy wide. Deregulation has accelerated, which lowers hurdles to doing business.

Why should we care about what’s going on in the United States?
Or any country for that matter?

It impacts our economy and others’ which in turn causes a ripple effect that spreads far and wide.

Be engaged in what’s going on in your own country but look at the big picture too.

Trump has caused enormous damage to the US economy... not only by the tariffs reducing trade, but it has caused country-wide boycotts across Europe, Canada and many other parts of the world.

This is just proof of that fact.

Note that the economy still leads by a wide margin of course "top issue" just means most important not "sole importance"
Economist/YouGov Jan 23-26
% of Americans whose top issue is:
Inflation/prices 23%
Jobs and the economy 13%
Health care 10%
Immigration 9%
Civil rights 8%

Some kid in BC is making videos about the separatist threat in #abpoli and his "part 3" lays blame on the NEP and how it "ruined the Alberta economy". 😮‍💨If you don't know there was a world wide recession bc of an oil glut at the time, you shldn't, probably, be making history videos.

Lots of great takes but I’ll also add a lesser one since I have seen it here yet - ICE’s illegal and heavy handed tactics is causing economy wide financial harm.

People aren’t spending nearly as much, and the cost of doing business has significantly increased. Seeing it real time.

It would mean world wide depression… it will hit everyone pretty hard, but in US it will devastate economy. Without AI bubble, US would be in depression since mid 2025.

I’m afraid, that is what America is about to face. His threats over Greenland are going to break wide open US’s alliances & could well see the end of NATO. US trade will dramatically fall as western former allies seek new deals with china, US isolationism will see it’s economy collapse, buckle up!

Really interesting new report from the good people at @ember-energy.org, showing solar's continued growth in the US. But imo - this is good news that has been eaten by bad news.

Power and economy-wide emissions grew in 2025, partly driven by data centre growth...
