In case you’re wondering what Valentine’s Day looks like in a fifth-grade classroom. I blast my favorite Doo-wop and Mowtown love songs while students pass out their candy. Then, we watch the greatest G-Rated love story ever told. #TeacherSky

En musikdoku att hålla ögonen öppna för, om doo wop. Läste att den kommit på Prime i dagarna men kanske bara i USA än så länge.

The week ending February 10, 1962, Philly doo-wop group The Sensations earned US #OneHitWonder honors when their classic doo-wop/’60s R&B single “Let Me In” entered the US #Billboard #Top40 at #35. The single spent 12 weeks on the chart, peaking at #4. #TheSensations #OneHitWondered #MusicSky

Happy Valentine's Day! Here's a little gift for you - my new album LET ME BE YOUR KITTEN, available on music streaming platforms everywhere! A 16-track album that blends rock'n'roll, Latin & doo-wop to serve a tongue-in-cheek reflection of seduction & courtship in the 1950s.

Please check it out!🥰💕

it’s your sweet 16 and i’m twenty-nine🎶

2 things I wish I never experienced this all star:

Ludacris doing whatever he did.

Brandy trying to doo wop the national anthem. (Arrangement was nice tho lol)

sempre acho engraçado imaginar os beach boys implorando pro brian wilson escrever músicas novas no final dos anos 1970 e toda vez que ele chegava no estúdio era tipo "gente... nós precisamos um cover de doo-wop"

this is not what you're asking for, but this just dropped and I have to share. not much doo-wop on the timeline rn. (will give some thought to more haunting ones.)

as a witness to the rise and fall of Rock™ as a cultural phenomenon, i gotta say the difference between a boomer born in late 1958, like me, and early 1947, like my youngest brother, is immense. we shared a foundation — doo wop, NOLA R&B, surf, folk revival — but i was *born* into it. he *lived it."

I think 5 is a brilliant piece of wtf art. The doo-wop singing hoodlum teens in the broken down car, the punk rock cousin in a van who is constantly eating, the psychotic redneck maw and her manchild son, the aging up of Tommy Jarvis from a preteen pipsqueak to a 30-year-old musclebound rain man...

I love doo wop and its lyrics are typically "I met a girl and my heart went bomp ba bo bomp do do do ding da ding" but the harmonies are so beautiful it doesn't matter what they say

Aladdin

The very first tune released on NYC-based Sultan Records, here’s The Inspirations - The Genie (7” 45 rpm, 1959). Early Doo-Wop/Pop Vocal gold…er, brass!!😁

This game's soundtrack absolutely RIPS (🥁)! One department Paper Mario has *never* whiffed is music.

Every battle track is a total bop. Ol' Grandsappy's doo-wop! Ska-punk Swan Lake! Olivia's cute little pop song!

Cannot wait to hear what the sound wizards at Intelligent Systems cook up next time.

Day 8: A song that made you explore an era of music

I was already familiar with doo wop, but this cover of a Lewis Lymon & the Teenchords song inspired me to do a deeper dive.

In 1971, veteran doo-wop/R&B singer Otis Williams put out a country album - apparently because someone bet him that he couldn’t - and it’s actually pretty good.

hot take: some doo-wop was actually pretty impressive, fun, and whimsical. and i wish sometimes it still existed.

like there was some acapella in there that most people can NOT do. the criticism that it was repetitive was true BUT there was skill that went into it that simple people refused to see.

The Apple Music write-up of the first album by the Mamas and the Papas claims that its “vocal arrangements [were] more associated with doo-wop groups from the previous era”—because apparently Motown, the Impressions, and the Beach Boys didn’t exist in 1966. JFC.

Chazza shop vinyl find of the week.

I'm a sucker for novelty covers of pop songs played in an anachronistic style. I love Big Daddy; they were the '80s Mike Flowers Pops of their day. So, sue me.

A doo-wop version of Devo's Whip It, anybody?
