NASA plans to send astronauts around the Moon in February 🚀

The Artemis II mission shows how the U.S. approach to space has changed, focusing on long-term missions and partnerships (and how that differs from China’s closed program.)
NASA’s Artemis II crewed mission to the Moon shows how US space strategy has changed since Apollo – and contrasts with China’s closed program
Today, there aren’t just two countries competing to get to the Moon. More countries have space programs, and private industry plays a larger role.

Over the years, I have thought many times that it was a strange blessing that we didn't get the tv. It made me see astronauts as heroes because they were risking their lives so that we can all learn.

It's amazing that in 10 days, NASA is planning to send astronauts back to the moon for the first time in 50 years, using a completely new spaceship design.

And yet with all of the awful stories saturating the news, most of the public has no idea.

I remember this day vividly—the earliest news story I remember.

I didn't watch the launch (too young), but I remember interviews with the astronauts in the morning and coverage after the explosion.
So much going on, it’s almost escaped notice today is the 40th anniversary of the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster

If you were alive back then (of any age to be aware of world events), you probably know exactly where you were when it happened

Most of us watched it in real time in the classroom
