Agree 100% @stanfordaaup.bsky.social!

“When it inevitably comes time for Stanford to choose, we must remember that we owe our loyalty not to any executive branch official but to our own foundational principles. We must be ready, when it’s our turn, to walk away.”

Border Patrol “attempted to arrest a plumber working inside a Logan Heights home but left empty-handed after the homeowner refused them entry.

The homeowner told agents she would not allow them inside because the warrant they presented did not include her address and lacked a judge's signature.”

The amount of corruption in the Trump administration is so staggering that I don’t think our brains can properly process these kinds of actions.

This is like someone breaking into a bank vault, stealing $190m, having the whole thing live-streamed to the public, and the DOJ literally ignoring it.

This two-parter below is exactly why it's hard to make clothes in the United States.

Let's look at how much it costs to produce a button-up shirt in the US. 🧵
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."

Sounds like the kind of advice he should have heeded himself when repeatedly complaining about Stanford during COVID.

After spending 43 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, evidence hidden by the prosecution reversed his conviction. Rather than finally enjoying freedom, ICE abducted him for deportation

Depraved.

In the Baltimore Sun today we ask Governor Wes Moore to cancel Avelo Airlines' contract with BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport. He can do it today. It doesn't require the assembly. It will help stop ICE & help our patients and neighbors.

Please share widely.

We have breaking news in Inside Medicine.

We had heard rumors of RIFs to CDC.

But this is the first visual confirmation that it has occurred tonight, and at high levels in the agency.

Here is what we know...and then some well-sourced rumors (but rumors, nonetheless, not confirmed) 🧵...

WP's post didn't get any traction here on Bluesky, but w 800k followers, their social media team has a responsibility to ensure every post represents truth.

The truth is that Casey Means is not and has never been a "world-class physician and scientist", irrespective of the absurd delusions of HHS.
washingtonpost.com
In a statement, HHS called Means a “world-class physician and scientist whose nomination as Surgeon General reflects her deep understanding of modern metabolic health and her fierce commitment to evidence-based care.”
She left the medical mainstream and rose to be RFK Jr.’s surgeon general pick
Casey Means, the surgeon general nominee, has criticized the medical establishment. She could be put in position to change it.

Specifically peak #MedTwitter felt like 2017-2018, whereas IMHO peak optimism at the attending level in the US for using social media in med ed peaked earlier than this. Maybe ~2016.

Globally, there are countries where I don’t know if social media use in med ed has even peaked yet.

Taught my students last week that they have a First Amendment right to record in Pennsylvania. So do folks in Chicago and Portland.

The primary argument I’ve heard for teaching the “responsible” use of AI is the fact that our students are using it whether or not we endorse it, and attempts to prevent its use in and out of the classroom are bound to fail.
