Afrotheria is a superorder of placental mammals, the living members of which belong to groups that are either currently living in Africa or of African origin: golden moles, elephant shrews (also known as sengis), otter shrews, tenrecs, aardvarks, hyraxes, elephants, sea cows (manatees).

Otter shrews are fucking banging. I’ve been on such an Afrotheria high lately and otter shrews are my favorite (except maybe aardvarks. or mammoths. or manatees.) They’re not otters or shrews, but more closely related to elephants than either of those.
An otter shrew; a small mammal that looks like a cross between an otter and a shrew. Short brown fur, a long snout and a laterally compressed tail like an alligator.

Honestly moleterizing is pretty common too.
Photo of a marsupial mole eating a lizard which is a very mole like animal that is well... a marsupial so no where even closely related to actual moles. Photo of a golden mole which looks very similar to an actual mole but is a member of the superorder Afrotheria which is plain English means its a closer cousin to elephants than it is a mole. Photo of an African mole rat which as you'd expect is a rodent that looks quite a bit like a mole except obviously it has the big rodent incisor teeth.

You know an odd thought I had recently? The main characters of the first Ice Age film represent the four placental mammal lineages! Mammoths represent Afrotheria, Sloths represent Xenarthra, Saber Tooth Cat represents Laurasiatheria and the human baby represents Euarchontoglires.
