The bundled #GnomeDesktopEnvironment, #Mutter #WindowManager, and #GDM #DisplayManager all appear to be 1-2 year old versions of the #software. The server performance with 280M Memory Usage, 0 CPU Load, and 1.8G Disk Usage, and 11 second reboot time are not the best.

Windowmanager? 🤭

xfree86 (grafische omgeving, 'desktop') was ook ni zo stabiel. Zo leerde ik met commandline werken 💪

Daarna kwamen configuratie bestanden met redelijke defaults. En de documentatie werd zoveel beter.

Het meest technische tgw is die .iso op een stick zetten en dan v USB booten. 🤷

Visualisations thanks to an update to !RMA which now supports System Heap everywhere and Heaped Dynamic Areas in modern OSes (ie not you RO5).
!RMA now has an “Areas” submenu that allows the user to select the Heap they wish to inspect. In addition to the RMA and System Heap, the list includes ColourPicker, Filer and WindowManager workspace, plus StrongHelp (thanks to a modification that places its numerous nodes in its own Dynamic Area rather than further contributing to the chaos in the RMA). Shaded areas are inaccessible from User Mode which, though it would be simple enough to work around, I am putting off until I add the ability to find and inspect Heaps inside Tasks, as that will require a similar memory access intermediary.

今年やったこと
- GPUモリモリの自作PCを組んだ(年末からだが)
- 自作PCで生成AI系をいじる(aituber-kitいじる, SBV2で音声学習, LLM系のUIいじる)
- ちょっと離れてたプログミングをCursorでAIと共にやっている
- DevContainerとか使ってDockerと少し仲良くなる
- 友人から勧めれていたタイル型WindowManager使い出したらめっちゃ良かった（まだ慣れてないけど）
- サボっていたギターを再び習慣化しつつある
- サボっていたキーボードショップをまた頑張り出そうとしている
- 金属切削を発注してみた

Meine IDE lauft nativ im Hostsystem. Um git damit zu benutzen muss man git in der windows-shell einrichten incl ssh , keys, key-agent usw. Ich bin echt versucht die IDE auch in die WSL zu installieren. Dieses sog. "Betriebssystem" mutiert immer mehr zum sehr schlechten Windowmanager.

Some nice (non-standard RO) icons in there. I like the multi-line writables with the coloured cross lines. And the rabbed style group markers. Did this use your WindowManager icon extensions?

The WindowManager defines those. They’re not in the Kernel (which to this day is blissfully unaware there’s any of that disreputable multitasking going on).

Put X Server on the ThinkPad. I won't need much, and my prefered Window Manager is still experimental on Wayland.

Gonna keep using Enlightenment and try to learn C and C++. Maybe I can contribute one day.

One of the things which frustrates me no end, is that every single #tiling #windowmanager I've ever seen on #linux is designed with the assumption that "simple" and "pretty" are mutually exclusive.

The closest I've come to "pretty" is XMonad, because at least that allows you to have colour […]
