Soon, Acorn A5000 Issue 1 PAL IOEB version, later the IOEB ASIC version.

Some tidy up of silks, electrically all connected. @peepouk.bsky.social has done a fantastic job once again.

I did the schematics, also needs a little tidy up 😄

Making a very very slow start in reversing the Acorn A7000/Plus.

Did sand down the front side, gone a little too far in places.
Hopefully work it out 😂

Will be months if not years (already been about 2) 😆

There are tiny little traces hidden in the layers

Probably the best, fastest 8-bit computer I've ever used. A Master Turbo ( 4MHz 65c102 ) + 28MByte Hard Drive. Perfect for BBC Micro game development. Made obsolete with the arrival of the Acorn Archimedes range in June 1987. That jump from 8-bit to 32-bit was massive!

Acorn A3000 is getting there. Last night was 'test the floppy drive' so I gave it a little servicing and by and large, nothing happened. 'Drive empty' said RiscOS. Discovered the battery leak had destroyed the cable internally so I thieved one from my R140.

It works! Time to make a new cable...
Overhead view of the internals of the A3000 now that it's largely reassembled. You can see the recently replaced RiscOS2 ROM chips to the left in a stack, the RAM sticking up vertically in the middle, MIDI/User Port board to the upper left and floppy drive on the upper right. White/black wires power the speakers and the red/white cable is for the floppy. There are stickers on top of the major chips where I noted the pinouts for various functions. Screenshot of the first successful floppy format under RiscOS2 showing 800k formatted and two bad blocks mapped out. I'm amazed this worked actually, given the state of the floppy drive.

'the hell? it's 4:36am... lol anyway, new UltimaVM PUSH/POP register range fast memory copy is done and there is also a little "twist" POP supports both strick LIFO (like the JVM) and natural order (like the ARM). Had to finish so late, because I had a hell of a busy day at work... Need some sleep!
