Uagh .webp files are the worst.

But after developing a 🧠💨 I considered writing a Browser plugin to modify the Accept-Headers.

Only to find, others are as mad about .webp as I am:

google makes webp the only image format that renders. Mozilla bakes ai directly into the engine (it just guesses at what should load on any webpage from now on).

now for log3.webp

I'm gonna guess that only the first two images actually connect together

Am I the only one that hates webp files?

• Image optimization: export at the right size, compress, and use next-gen formats like WebP or AVIF to cut file sizes.
• Lazy loading: load below-the-fold images and media only when the user scrolls to them.
• Smart fonts: limit font weights and styles, preload critical fonts,

I created a new Quick Look extension for previewing animated WebP files at their original speed.
apps.apple.com/app/id675581...

The default Quick Look plays WebP files slowly. The comparison below shows a 60 fps WebP, but the default viewer (Before) plays it at only 20 fps.

trying to fit this 32,000 x 16,000 image on a site with a 10mb upload cap, tried webp. and uhh ...

Fun fact! WEBP can only support images up to 16383x16383 in size, (png has no such silly limitations!)

literally never said that, i QUESTIONED it due to my only experience with any time its come up. my follow up is also not saying that, it just really sounds like partially supported tech. last time ive seen something this odd with tech was when webp came to be and years later its still not supported.

Tired: Dragging or saving an image off a browser page only to see it is WebP and needing to then reformat that as a jpg or png.

Wired: Using page source to get the actual url for the png or jpg, then nabbing the image you need via that.

I only hope that when all of this is finally over, the person responsible for WebP is finally brought to justice and held accountable for their crimes.

Today I reached a new low: someone emailed a corrupt webp of a tree as their “logo.” Only the addition of crayons will unseat this champion #graphicdesign

WebP(which got integrated partially and only because they were saying it will work better with chrome updates, but its still dodnt really happened)
AVIF (its microsoft+google+netflix made, didn’t seen to be used outside some of their apps and only on android for some reason)

Manga on the other hand are most often black and white with only special editions being colored.
It's characteristics are "rich symbolic storytelling", dedicated manga writers, a huge fan community, weekly releases, and most importantly stories can go on for forever.

Currently the only thing you can realistically do besides not using TOML or doing flat tables is the following abomination.

Can we all just agree to get rid of .webp? Every time I download a file only to try and put it into Photoshop and find out it's webp. Just go away please.

Steam doesn't get enough credit as the only storefront that's useful to game journos and writers. There's your game summary, your updates, your videos, your developer information, and your image gallery with high-res .jpgs.

Not WEBP. Not AVIF, whatever the fuck that is. Just .jpgs.

anyways I guess we'll have to see how it pans out
only thing that is disappointing with the ATProtocol rn is that video & image formats can't be changed, so no changing to webp or avif afiak

PNGs and JPEGs work. I can important them and use them in software. I can upload them and send them to friends.

WEBP just doesn't and I think it only exists to annoy me.

The PNG is the final boss of image formats and that's ok.

@volpeon tbh looking at your website, you could probably get it to be even lighter with some avif & jxl (only works on ios, fuck you google & firefox) images instead of webp

trying to save an image only to find it's a webp is bad enough, but if I open the inspector and find I've been trojan horsed I'm gonna be fuckin livid
