DR. JANKLOW That unease will pass in the coming days. I promise you will get real closure by the end of our time here. AIDEN I hope so. Aiden watches his parents depart the porch swing. He shifts, turns to Dr. Janklow. AIDEN I notice they don't talk much. Is that a common side effect? DR. JANKLOW Yes. In order to suppress entire regions of the brain, the medication neutralizes whole regions at a time. AIDEN So it basically shuts down their brains a little at a time so you can tell them to be nice to us? DR. JANKLOW Sounds a bit harsh when you put it that way, but yes. AIDEN Could you tell them to do anything? Like, if you gave them that drug and told them to jump in the lake, would they have to do it? DR. JANKLOW I think you're giving it too much credit! The dosage is far too low to have an effect that strong. AIDEN What if you gave them more? Dr. Janklow releases a condescending laugh. DR. JANKLOW Well, that wouldn't be ethical! Or really possible; I know it might seem like we're playing God here, but it's all just biology and chemistry... I'll see you at dinner.

The strap of her shoe loosened to the point that Tess almost lost her footing. After helping her right herself, Liam gently let go of her arm and took off his jacket before folding it in half, handing it to her to hold. He got down on one knee and secured the strap around her ankle. He stood up and smiled, standing inches away. Leaning in to kiss her, he could feel as her lips parted in response. She could no longer maintain the restraint or decorum that the situation required of her. Tess suddenly pulled back and looked at Liam with a burning intensity that caught him off guard. "Did I do something?" "Yes. Yes, you did. I want you to take me somewhere private. Now." Smiling, he quizzically raised one eyebrow before offering his arm and slowly guiding her behind a staircase. He was amused by her clear attempts to disguise her frustration with their pace. Upon reaching privacy, she placed both arms around his neck as his hands quickly found her hips. "I didn't see this in the stars tonight." "I didn't have you pegged as the astrology type." "You haven't had me p..." She interrupted by leaning in and deeply kissing him. It was when he gently bit her lower lip that the dam fully broke.

Update! I tried to polish up the #scene from by #book - still not done but short of re-doing the city to fix perspective (haha, no) I can't think of much to add now - Still, I learned a ton of drawing technique from this! ^^

Alpha males are only good for breeding, but he was matched much earlier than any of his friends online—just a few months after his nineteenth birthday. He doesn’t know much about Adrian Salazar except that he’s an omega male, age thirty-seven, and that whatever he said to Theo’s moms over the phone made them very happy. Excerpt 2: “Is it true,” Adrian says in his gentle voice. “That you’ve never been in full rut before?” Excerpt 3: Adrian’s hand shifts from his cheek to the nape of his neck, guiding Theo to tuck against his throat. So much touch at once is a shock to Theo’s system. He inhales shakily, and it’s like spun sugar lightning dancing along his nerves: the milky sandalwood scent of Adrian straight from the source. He sighs without meaning to, tension releasing from his shoulders as he rubs his nose against the subtle swell of the scent gland below Adrian’s jaw, heedless of the faint prick of stubble there. His instincts don’t need any coaxing to accept Adrian’s scent: he’d been drawn to it from the moment he entered the omega’s den. “That’s it,” Adrian murmurs. “Good boy.” He tugs Theo’s legs up to drape over his lap. He keeps one hand steady and heavy on Theo’s nape, urging him closer. Excerpt 4: Theo doesn’t notice the saliva he has to keep swallowing down as his body tries to drive him to taste the scent gland being offered to him, to lick and suck until it’s swollen. He doesn’t know that his scent spikes with neediness each time Adrian’s fingers pull gently through his curls. He doesn’t see the way Adrian smiles—feline, dangerous—at the alpha melting in his arms.

EXT. FARM - DAY SUPER: COLORADO, 1945 Worn leather boots covered in muck step through a sea of white feathers packed tightly together. CHICKENS. At least fifty, frantically scatter and CLUCK. A hand as worn as the boots swoops down and effortlessly snatches a chicken. LEWIS GABLE (42), in tattered overalls, plods through the maniacal fowl, with the unlucky bird dangling by his side. He’s weathered, scrawny, and anything but lazy; he’s simply down on his (c)luck. Just outside a faded red barn, Lewis approaches a stump that has seen the blade of an axe hundreds of times. He lays the chicken on the stump, fussing to get it centered. LEWIS Thank you for your sacrifice. Lewis braces the chicken and with one hand, raises an axe above his head. INT. KITCHEN - DAY A freshly pruned and cleaned chicken SLAPS onto a butcher block. MARY GABLE (38), a rugged beauty and self-sufficient out of necessity, moves to a rack of more chickens and counts under her breath. She grabs a handwritten note from her apron and crumples it on an aggravated exhale. EXT. FARM - CONTINUOUS Mary ambles past wilted crops to the eerily silent barn. INT. BARN - CONTINUOUS Lewis rests on a dilapidated hay bale, and a single chicken curiously pecks the ground near his feet. MARY (O.S.) Lewis! We’re short! Lewis perks up. That can’t be true.
