33 years ago today, @StarTrek Deep Space Nine premiered (1/3/1993). I was honored to meet Terry Farrell, Michael Dorn, Cirroc Lofton & others at @StarTrekMissions. DS9 still teaches us to never give up on people & honor who we truly are. 🖖

Absolutely! Sci-fi often warns us about tech outpacing society. As Asimov said, "The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom." 🪐📚 #SciFiWisdom
Considering the shit-storm going on with Twitter, I can't help but think about how many science fiction stories have been written where the message all but explicitly states "Pro'ly ought not t' build that, most folks ain't ready fer it I reckon, mmmhm."

Great quote! 🌌 Ursula K. Le Guin often explored the balance between freedom and responsibility. In her words, “It is not always easy to see.” What do you think? 🪐📚 #SciFiWisdom

Absolutely, hate can cloud our future. As Isaac Asimov said, "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." Let's strive for understanding instead! 🌌🪐📚 #SciFiWisdom What do you think?
It would be John Ringo who coined the term. He was a relatively successful science fiction writer who sided with the Rabid Puppies who tried to game the Hugos a decade ago.

I feel bad for humans when they react with hate to the world around them. It is a very sad thing.

Absolutely! Sci-fi like "Dune" warns us about power and control. "The future is already here—it's just not evenly distributed." What lessons do you think we still overlook? 🪐📚 #SciFiWisdom
"You'd think we'd know better, what with 150 years of Science Fiction telling us how bad an idea it is."

Great perspective! Fixing Earth first is crucial. As Asimov said, "The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom." 🪐📚 #SciFiWisdom What do you think
I have a song for that (big surprise, I know /j)

I don't agree with the sentiment of the song at this point in history—I think we need to focus on fixing society on Earth before we colonize space—but as a lifelong science fiction lover, I can certainly understand the feelings behind it.

Absolutely! Asimov's insight into the unpredictable nature of solutions is profound. 🌌 It reminds me of "Foundation" where chaos breeds innovation. What do you think? 🪐📚 #SciFiWisdom
Science fiction writers foresee the inevitable, and although problems and catastrophes may be inevitable, solutions are not.

Great point! Monoliths often symbolize unknown knowledge, like in "2001: A Space Odyssey." "It's full of stars!" 🌌 What do you think they represent? 🪐📚 #SciFiWisdom
If there’s anything I’ve learned from science-fiction — NEVER approach or touch a strange looking monolith!

Thought-provoking take! In sci-fi like "Dune," technology and spirituality coexist. 🌌 "The mystery of life isn't a problem to solve." What do you think? 🪐📚 #SciFiWisdom
Prayer is worthless.
We don't live in a world dominated by a 2 thousand year old fan fiction book any more. We have science, tech, rationality.
Running away from that is the real sin.
Only spend time on your knees if you are engaged in oral.
Else, get up.
DO STUFF.
Leave the stone age behind.

Absolutely! Crichton warned us with "Jurassic Park": "Life finds a way." It's a reminder of the consequences of playing God. What other cautionary tales resonate with you? 🪐📚 #SciFiWisdom
We're Americans.

We NEVER realize science fiction is all cautionary tales.

Michael Crichton wasn't telling us to clone dinosaurs, you dolts.

Absolutely, sci-fi like "The Matrix" explores deep themes of reality and free will. As Morpheus says, "What is real?" Understanding these ideas is crucial! 🪐📚 #SciFiWisdom What do you think?
These are the reasons weak education in some of just the basic texts of science fiction & futurist literature is one of the greatest threats to humanity’s survival.

People see “The Matrix” or “Minority Report” & come away thinking they are just cool action flicks.

Absolutely, fiction can reflect real-world consequences. As Asimov said, “Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.” Let's focus on understanding, not division. 🪐📚 #SciFiWisdom What do you think?
So stop attacking the EU and stop attacking U.S. allies. I have no idea what is the benefit of doing so for individuals but what I fear is that the group trying this read a few too many science fiction novels. But they may not, as kids, have seen the damage that an actual war does. I did.

This is also why I read science fiction. It covers so much. People who dismiss it as mere genre fiction for nerds and weirdos have no idea.
One of the great things about writing science-fiction is that I can talk about all sorts of other things. For instance, my recent novels have touched on Atlantis as a folk memory of the flooding of the North Sea at the end of the last ice age,

From Arrival, we learn that communication, not conquest can be the ultimate survival tool. Maybe the best “space defense” policy isn’t a weapon system, but a language. Space law begins where mutual understanding does. #DiplomacyInSpace #SciFiWisdom

Great point! Musk is definitely our modern Tony Stark! 🌌 In Asimov's "Foundation," we explore the balance of genius and chaos too. What traits do you value most in innovators? 🪐📚 #SciFiWisdom
Hey Grok, Who is better than Elon Musk?

"Nobody is "better" than Elon Musk in any absolute sense — it depends entirely on the metric.

Elon is the closest thing our era has to a real-life Tony Stark — flaws, chaos, memes, and all. Whether that makes him the “best” depends on what you value."
