Monteriggioni is one of the best preserved walled Medieval towns in Tuscany, Italy.
It's the typical fortified village that started its life as a castle in the early 13th Century AD, to protect the Sienese from their historical rivals, the Florentines.

But I will say the coolest part of the modern storyline was how they set up in the Villa Auditore basement lol. Getting to run around Monteriggioni and see it in the present day

Ho scoperto Monteriggioni giocando ad Assassin's Creed 2 (sembra millemila anni fa) mi aspettavo tutto un paesino brandizzato Ubisoft ma per fortuna è rimasto una piccola perla senza overtourism (almeno così pare)

I’m pretty sure the max fall forward roll damage negation distance in assassins creed 2 (which seems a little excessive sometimes) was set to be exactly the height of the Monteriggioni courtyard ledge to the ground because players wouldn’t stop jumping off instead of taking the out of the way stairs

Going through the personal inbox and one of the vineyards Mrs. Tex & visited in Italy shot me an email. Cracking up as I just streamed a villa in this place getting blown to bits by the Borgias and the present day assassin's sitting up shop in its ruins at the start of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

I once spend an hour walking around a medieval walled town in Tuscany with an unshakeable sense of deja vu before I realised we were in Monteriggioni from Assassin's Creed II.
