In late 17th Century CE, England, the response to the Great Fire of London was to make chimneys much narrower. Children were employed to be human chimney sweeps.

Child labor was common in the chimney sweeping industry for over 200 years because children were small enough to fit into narrow flues.

In 1940s, British diplomat Alec Kirkbride spotted Khatt Shebib from air, a 93-mile-long stone wall stretching through Jordan’s desert. Standing under a meter high, it puzzles researchers, many of whom question a defensive role due to its low height. Its purpose, builders and age remain unknown.

A hoard of Roman nails found at Inchtuthil, Perth and Kinross, Scotland, 87 AD. After the Roman army abandoned their forward fortification on the site they buried 875,400 iron nails on the site to prevent the enemy Caledonian tribes reforging the iron for weapons.

Crushed skull and its surrounding elaborate headdress was excavated (en bloc) from Great Death-Pit at one of the royal cemeteries of Ur, Mesopotamia in modern-day Iraq 🇮🇶

This is a head of one of queen/princess Pu'Abi's female attendants. It dates to early dynastic period, 2600 BC.

Reliquary Arm of St. Valentine (1380-1400 CE), is made of silver with partial gilt. It was designed to hold a relic, specifically an arm bone of Saint Valentine, which would have been visible through windows once covered with crystal.

A 15th Century AD, map of Isle of Thanet in Kent 🇬🇧

Cartography wasn't quite what it is now but you can clearly see Wantsum Channel which has long been silted up and reclaimed for farming. All that remains of this important waterway once used by Romans, Saxons and Vikings is a tidal river.
