A jar full of Prussian Blue pigment which we’re experimenting with for ceramic pieces. It’s of a group known as “fugitive” colours i.e. not light-fast, so they’re usually stored in tinted containers so that, as spices, exposure to light doesn’t reduce the efficacy www.jacksonsart.com/blog/2024/04...

Gold bracelets of King Ramesses II. Decorated with two little duck heads. 🦆 🦆 😍

Body lapis lazuli. Dynasty 19. Reign of Ramesses II, 1279-1212 BC.

Found in a hoard of jewels, gold and silver plate, during railway construction at Tell Basta (Bubastis) in 1906. NMEC, Cairo.

My photos show two gold bracelets, each formed by two semi-circles connected by a hinge and a clip. They have rich granulated ornamentation in a series of geometric patterns. The upper part is decorated with relief heads of two ducks with necks bent forwards and resting on a single body created with lapis lazuli. The tail is decorated with small granules of gold. The cartouches of Ramesses II are engraved next to the fastener (not seen). Max diameter 7.2 cm. Dated Nineteenth Dynasty, Reign of Ramesses II, 1279-1212 BC. Discovered in 1906 with a hoard of jewels and gold and silver plate at Tell Basta (Bubastis) during railway construction works. On display at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo.

These grew on a log I've walked past twenty times this month. The orange color looks painted on, almost artificial against the moss. But touch them and they're solid, real, cool to the fingertips. The forest floor is full of surprises.

Flavoplaca citrina agg. #lichen - I think - on siliceous rock (ballast from rarely used industrial railway).
Small patch of dark yellow thallus dissolving into soredia on the sides. I lies between granules of siliceous rock. Rock sprinkled in bright yellow lichen.

Whizzy stick, half cup soy milk, add 1tsp dijon mustard, 2tsp apple cider vinegar, salt, whizz for 2 mins. Gradually add 1cup oil ( I used safflower) whilst whizzing. Keep raising whizzy stick every now and then. It goes thick quickly after 4mins or so. Then I add herbs, garlic granules etc

My dad yellee at me bc I spilled some coffee granules on the kitchen counter so I told him I don't take instructions from biphobes and spilled a bit more. See he's a pr1ck but I learned from the best so I could keep this up for a very long time.

This teeny, tiny jumping spider can be found in Florida's long-leaf pine savannah habitat. The granules at the spider's feet are grains of sand. This is another fabulous spider introduced to me by @apsciencebylyn.bsky.social #Arachtober

What just fell out of this court record? Pounce! Before blotting paper became available, & for long after too, people used pulverized cuttlefish bone to dry ink. You can it clearly on this inky mess of a signature, together with a piece of contemporary blotting paper for comparison 🗃️ #bookhistory

I can be food snobby but I honestly cannot tell the difference between fancy coffee and Nescafé granules. I have one cup of black coffee every morning and don't care where it comes from as it all tastes the same.

I got my term 3 pieces back today - so excited, I've been wanting to wear my rings so bad 😂. I'm going to have to learn how to take pictures of hands better though. Anyone wanna do some hand modeling for me lol?

Saw this at #NAMLondon the other week, and struck that both European and Japanese swordmakers used shark skin to provide a rough, non-slip grip. Wonder if one learned the technique from the other or if both discovered it independently. #history
Grip of a sword Light Cavalry Trooper's sword, c1788 Light cavalry troopers carried a slightly curved, slashing sword. The grip of this one is made of shark skin. The natural granules of the fish skin helped to prevent the sword slipping out of the trooper's hand.
