#Flemish
We were at the National Gallery the other day and the Dutch/Flemish names are uncannily English-like. They remind me of that Nintendo baseball game screen where the Japanese programmers came up with fake American names

Love those “English-Scottish-Irish” geographic names used in 1
of the original 13 states: Hackensack, Ho-Ho-Kus, Hopatcong, Mahwah, Metuchen, Paramus, Piscataway, Raritan.

Even Hoboken wouldn’t be acceptable as it’s Dutch/Flemish.

Another point: Musk comes from a country with 11 official languages. Although South Africa does have many problems, the country seems to be surviving. Belgium has two majority languages (Flemish, French) and a minority language (German). Belgium seems to be going strong.

On this day in 1913, Willy Vandersteen was born. The grandmaster of Flemish comics! You haven't experienced comics till you have read Vandersteen #studiovandersteen . Two years ago on a cold snowy morning in Antwerpen I made a visit to his birthplace...

Future research will entail studies of “Famkes”, two and four letter last names, and the Flemish.

I get the Flemish. We bark at them, too. Especially when there are Darts or the great ballgame involved.

Massacre Of The Innocents is based off of a story in the Gospel of Matthew. The version wanted here is one of two versions painted by Reubens, an extremely famous Flemish painter from the 1600’s.

Even if the choice was symbolic, I don’t believe it can lead to anything new or noteworthy.

Newly appointed Minister-President of Brussels Boris Dilliès is struggling to produce a coherent string of words in Dutch - or maybe he's been doing Duolingo and he's just repeating chunks from lesson 4?
(This shouldn't be a new challenge, he was mayor of a bilingual commune until now. No excuses.)

Well I asked my latrine powered AI bot to summarise this in the style of Edward The Pillsbury Doughboy, & *this is what you made it do*, Mr W Helm

"Mr Pip, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your plaits... to Twiggy?" "I will."

Not saying it's wrong for an artist to do this! I like Chinese landscape art that's farther from any physical landscape. I like the Flemish renaissance art that inspired Wood. But I just want those gum drop trees to turn into scraggly oaks and the hills to have some edges and gullies.

If you're asking me which immigrants made the greatest contribution to Manchester I'd say it was the Flemish weavers back in the 1300s.
It was their skills which first turned a small backwater into a textiles boomtown.

But footballers are also welcome.
