Trump has not been to Altadena or mentioned it as far as I can tell. He has eviscerated federal disaster relief, wildland firefighting, and emergency management. And he has played a disastrous game of chicken over the billions in grants we need to move forward.

They deserve the original $19 and more, but paying inmate firefighters at least minimum wage will allow many of them to leave prison with enough savings to have a better chance of following the process (which two other bills improved) to get a full time firefighting job.

With any job you can look at hours worked, skills required, risks (eg firefighting), and so on. It's so incredibly naive to imagine billionaires like Musk, Bezos etc could possibly do anything to justify vast amount of wealth they take.

Long-range drones from the SBU’s Alpha unit struck the Bashneft-Ufa refinery (Bashnafta-UNPZ) in Ufa, Bashkortostan, 1,400 km from Ukraine’s border. The strike reportedly hit the ELOU-AVT-6 crude processing unit. Black smoke rose over the site, with firefighting crews dispatched.

The current approaches are not focussed nearly enough on reducing the outcomes we don’t want - large loss fires that occur (almost by definition) when firefighting is not going to be effective and so structure and community preparation is the only recipe for success.
