I keep forgetting it's F13 and I've been a bad horror fan this year. But here's my 2026 F13 take:
1, 2, and 4 rock. 3 not so much. I keep trying to find something in 5 but just can't. 6 is played out. 7 is my current fave. 8 is fun to turn on late and see if you can actually stay awake until NYC.

watching Jason Lives for dumb movie friday, the only movie we could be watching tonight. it's far and away my fav f13 movie, cause it's the only one where the people making it transcended the cynicism of the the franchise just by getting silly with it.

As the first F13 in the 90's, it starts off being very meta and self-aware, and then slips into the thing it was holding a mirror up to. Also, Duke was a monumental asshole. Some of the kills are hilarious. It felt like a Tales from the Crypt movie.

There is a clever lift taken from From Russia With Love when Jason is passing by the cabin windows and it's just like Robert Shaw's Red Grant looking into the cabin windows of a train as he passes by. Jason Lives is the best b/c it's not just good for being a F13 movie, it's a real movie.
