Great to see @mattywin.bsky.social's book 'Hot Mess' on Rolly's table in the latest @climatetown.bsky.social video about Exxon’s $600 Million Dollar Lie.

Always smashes it:

"T Brand Studio’s creation of that algae advertisement was not mentioned in the [New York] Times’ own coverage of Exxon’s other algae ads... 'Here then, we have evidence that the Times can be bought so that its branded messages are, indeed, meant to compete against its news agenda,' Amazeen writes."
These ads are poisoning trust in media
‘Native advertising' allows fossil fuel companies to disguise their ads in news outlets. A new book argues the practice undermines journalistic credibility.

1989 fire at the Exxon plant in Baton Rouge. This huge fire killed two and burned for weeks, as firefighters couldn't contain blazes. They let it exhaust the stored fuel. This was the 3rd Exxon disaster that year, following Valdez in Alaska and another tanker that spilled 117,000 gallons in Hawaii

I've been to some of these forests
They are beautiful
And scary

Because they look just like the pictures in the textbooks

Anyways, Exxon and XTO want that lithium too. They can use land in different states to pierce down into the Smackover.

A Fossil Fuel Fight Brews at COP30 as Delegates Draft Road Map
It’s all about fossil fuels, folks. Today’s a good day to remember it took 28 COP editions for these two magic words to make it into an official text. When they did, in 2023 in Dubai, it was as part of a commitment by countries to transition away from them. At COP30, fossil fuels have taken center stage from minute one.

I don't blame anyone who wants the jobs to come back

I blame this country for never ripping all the settler colonialism out of our laws and legal system

Communities don't need to be "involved", they need full community ownership and control of major industry!

This chart was generated by Exxon’s own scientists in the early ’80s. When they realized the damage it would do to their bottom line, they buried the study and went on to buy off Republicans.
