Porth Wen Brickworks built by Charles E Tidy in the middle 19th century is a disused Victorian brickworks that produced fire bricks, made from quartzite (silica) for lining steel-making furnaces. Long abandoned it sits on the beach at Porth Wen, Llanbadrig near Cemaes Bay, Anglesey and although it's on private land walkers and paddle boarders make the trip to marvel at the remains. It's also a fishing spot

Color photo of the PRR S1, on its stationary rolling plinth at the 1939-1940 New York World’s Fair Record length, likely record speed as well, and comparatively little effort needed to shift its own weight. It moved fast passenger trains but not quite in the way envisioned, and was simply too big in many aspects despite its speed. While not built during wartime (for the US) the conflict effectively gave the engine life, much like how liners are commandeered for war use. Color photo of the first PRR T1 outside the Baldwin Locomotive Works. A group of men stand next to the engine Besides looking like ocean vessels with their prows and portholes, they were revolutionary but short-lived compared to their predecessors. They were the first to use a new propulsion method as standard (after being tried on smaller examples) which further optimized them for high speed and long range. Black & White photo of the PRR Q1, presumably right after its completion at the Juniata Shops. Note the number plate is on the pilot shrouding Launching alongside the dreadnoughts, its capabilities lie somewhere between them and the slower but sturdier armored cruisers. Was excellent in showing up older machines but couldn’t hold its own well against more powerful designs. Black & White photo of the first PRR Q2. It has recently entered traffic as it bears the markings of its allocated enginehouse (WN - STC for Western Region - St. Clair Columbus) What seems to be a regular freighter has an underlying purpose for being. Designed with extreme power and slightly higher speed, what you see is likely another element in keeping the supply line going. Only problem is, its anticipated service never really came around .

Going by their enginehouse and loco assignments, the first two Q’s were west-running from Columbus, like the S1 at Crestline, so their speed came in handy compared to everything else

Feb 2, 1927: the Canadian National Railway opens the Toronto Locomotive and Car Facilities, more commonly known as the Spadina roundhouse and yard. The Spadina Avenue bridge crossed the middle of the engine terminal, a perfect vantage point for three generations of rail photographers. 1/3

So I know Trainz has a variety of stall types for roundhouses, but I don't think I've found ones that extend *inwards* toward the turntable like certain domiciles of steam giants
Famous aerial view of Union Pacific's Cheyenne Roundhouse and Yard. The enginehouse had 48 stalls total, split between two sections. The left-hand section was the "Passenger House", while the right-hand section was the "Freight House." All of the Freight House stalls were seemingly extended towards the turntable, initially to accommodate the length of the original 4-6-6-4 Challengers. Of note is 5 stalls (center) that were extended even further to take the longer length of the 4-8-8-4 Big Boys. Similar aerial view of the PRR Crestline Roundhouse. Late 1946 saw Stalls 2 through 11, and 25 through 29 extended inward to accommodate the incoming influx of T1's, as while they could fit on the turntable, they were still a bit too long to fit in the remaining stalls. This wasn't a problem for the prewar S1, present in this photo but long-since retired, outside its "personalized" Stall 30. This had been extended some years prior, but given the S1's length was extended outwards instead.

Still streamlined, the pilot markings "WN - STC" indicate a Western Region engne, assigned to St. Clair Enginehouse in Columbus Another shot of 6130, this time with its shrouding removed. The markings read "WN - CST" but still conveys the same St. Clair allocation. Strangely, this photo shows it hustling out of Crestline, likely heading back to Columbus via the Toledo Division, or potentially taking a run on the Ft. Wayne Division to Chicago, preceding the Q2's that would later be assigned to the West

Three Forks was the most improbable townsite you can imagine. The townsite was far up the mountainside from the station on a small flat bench. Three Forks was the terminus of the transcontinental CPR's branchline into the Slocan mining district until the CPR was forced to build up to Sandon.
A remarkable view east into Three Forks from along the CPR's Nakusp & Slocan Rwy branch, the CPR enginehouse, turntable, and station are visible behind a work crew section house. Clinging on a bench beyond, the community of Three Forks tries to thrive. The view is east up Seaton Creek. Sandon is to the right, and the North Fork of Carpenter Creek is to the left.
