#BIBConf25
Last Saturday was @bsbibotany.bsky.social #BIBConf25 but in 1965 BSBI conference was in Birmingham. Found report in Amnesty bookshop! JL Fyfe of PBI Cambridge talked about Lucerne, Sickle Medick and hybrids 🤗 Alas no references ☹️

Lovely to see you at #BIBConf25 yesterday @rogerhorton.bsky.social (and at the after-party!), thank you so much for coming!
Glad you made it back in time for a walk in the woods :-)
It was a long haul back from @bsbibotany.bsky.social #BIBConf25 at Edge Hill Ormskirk to Cambridge but just managed a walk in the setting sun. Sleep well! 🌇😴

I worried that @trevorthebotanist.bsky.social might be feeling a bit flat after the excitement of yesterday's #BIBConf25.
But today @markavery.bsky.social announced that Trevor's #UrbanPlants is his 2025 #BookoftheYear! markavery.info/2025/11/30/t...
Congratulations Trevor, we're so happy for you!

Oh @dunnjons.bsky.social & @thenewgalaxy.bsky.social - you two are incorrigible!
But we love you and it was such a treat to see your exhibit at #BIBConf25 yesterday & hear all about your programme of upcoming @mariposanature.bsky.social orchid tours.
Hope to see you again soon!
What's a pair of orchid-hunters to do the morning after the @bsbibotany.bsky.social conference in northwest England at the end of November? Go look for orchids, of course!

Fine journey to the station with my Mariposa colleague @thenewgalaxy.bsky.social - roadside Bee Orchids, full of promise.

What a pleasure to meet @trevorthebotanist.bsky.social at yesterday's #BIBCONF25
Trevor's 5 minute presentation on Welsh Groundsel sounded like it would make a fascinating full length presentation at a future conference.

Wonderful to catch up with our friend @ambroisebaker.bsky.social at yesterday's #BIBConf25.
He brought some Mentha spp (mints) with him - both live plants and pressed specimens.
Ambroise's mission is to help us love mints and learn to identify them correctly.

Fantastic time at #BIBConf25, catching up in person with BSBI friends, making new botany friends, hearing from early career people, listing to interesting talks and debates, ... 150% BSBI fun with a full range of exhibits, talks and posters, ... well over 100% on the account that there was sooo much to see and learn! I was fortunate to be allocated exhibit no 8 and brought information about mint (genus Mentha) and I got lots of tips from people on how to develop this work. The poster I presented can be downloaded from here.

Really looking forward to Saturday’s British & Irish Botanical Conference #BIBConf25. I’ll be part of a panel discussing the use of AI in botany. Apparently, this is what AI thinks we look like, so I expect everyone to dress entirely in green (with a weird BATHIMAND logo) @bsbibotany.bsky.social

Our friendly orchid tour leaders @dunnjons.bsky.social & @thenewgalaxy.bsky.social will be at the #BIBConf25 at Edge Hill University tomorrow - they're looking forward to chatting orchids with everyone there!
The emperor has no clothes! Very much looking forward to sharing true stories about the little man of Rhodes - and other orchid tales - with @bsbibotany.bsky.social conference attendees this weekend. See you there.
