It was inspiring to hear @yoselin.bsky.social talk about the Black in Plant Science network last night. I so agree about the importance of creating a sense of community and belonging, through networks and support, to grow self-confidence and bring the power of diversity to botany.
Tonight we've been enjoying a fascinating Winter Talk by @yoselin.bsky.social about her research in plant sciences & her role in @blackinplantsci.bsky.social.
We're recording the talk & it will be available soon on our YouTube channel.
Check out blackinplantscience.org, let's amplify & celebrate!

We've been working with @metoffice.gov.uk to analyse 10 years of #NewYearPlantHunt data.
The analysis provides the clearest evidence yet of how rising temperatures are impacting the British & Irish flora, with knock-on effects for all our wildlife.

what a fantastic day! I love how #NewYearPlantHunt combines chatting & getting to know other wildlife enthusiasts, learning more plant ID, a challenge in finding as many plants in flower as possible (65!) and a lovely stroll (around Bath, looking very beautiful today). Thanks Helena and BathNats!

So, what do we do with the #NewYearPlantHunt data that 1000s of #BSBImembers & supporters have collected over the past decade?
1 example: we joined forces with @metoffice.gov.uk to investigate correlations between rising temperatures & your plant records.

A Berry Merry Christmas #wlidflowerhour friends. 🎄

I tried to find 10 berries for this week, but fell short so have cheated with a needle-felted mistletoe!

Real berries found were Holly, Wild Privet, Stinking Iris, Blackthorn, Hawthorn, White Bryony, Ivy, Dog Rose, and Cotoneaster.
