listened to Nevermind - definitely fits the bill for a certain mood! The early tracks on the album gave me an old AmRep maybe Cows adjacent feel, and then “Deaf man Talking” and after that was where I was like “oh yeah, there is that bit of the Jesus Lizard in there”

My small hometown was perfectly centered between a number of Midwest touring hubs, and somehow we were able to get a lot of run-off from the Touch & Go/AmRep scene coming through. A lot of the dudes I went to those shows with (because it was all there was) are now “just asking questions” chuds.

It's also probably our most "indie rock" record, and our least "noise rock" record, but based on today's definition of "noise rock" being "de-tuned metal with no pop sensibility whatsoever and is more or less aping 30-year-old AmRep releases," that's probably ok. Our new stuff is plenty noisy tho!

This feels much less claustrophobic and less extreme than the later Relapse albums. Which is probably why I skipped the AmRep releases for so long. Its a great album I let slide many years ago.. My tastes are changing. This sounds great to my older ears..
