#150GW

There will be ~150km2 of land covered with data centers in the US in 2030, about 3x the size of Manhattan.

These data centers will use in 2030 as much electricity as ALL 130M homes in the US (~150GW avg).

(very rough estimates to see the scale of ongoing physical AI investment).

You can see at the chart at the top that production in 2025 exceeded connections by about ~150GW.

But the world installed more than twice that amount, 380GW, in the first six months of this year alone!

About 150GW worth, it looks like.

Sure, but what scale? Do you agree with BNEF about BESS from late 2021 358GW/1TWh by 2030 at cost of $262 billion over 8 years? In 2024, BESS was 150GW/363GWh and global electricity consumption was 30,000TWh. This doesn't seem like nearly enough BESS to me. Some say TX will have 14GW/20GWh in '25

Did you know that with 150GW of installed nuclear capacity by 2050, the nuclear sector could employ close to 1.5 Million people?

Clear policies to address skills shortages are needed at the EU level.

They have come a long way, something that often gets lost in the political drama. More than 150GW capacity of wind power, and 240GW of solar. It’s really a success story, and much of it in red states. Another reason Trump’s policies make so little sense.

Is there enough BESS? end of 2024 150GW/363GWh. BNEF in 2021 predicted 358GW/1TWh by 2030. What do you think of BNEF costs they mentioned in 2021 $262 billion from 2022 - 2030? Today global solar 1.4TW and wind 1.1TW

The human brain takes up about 20 percent of our energy budget. That's massive and the only reason we find farts funny and can't explain why but know they are. You'll know the AGI thing is near when some whackjob publishes a white paper saying it's gonna take like 150GW of power and new math to do.

Tbh, 150GW is already more than enough even for the biggest factories of the most enthusiast players, so I'm way overshooting this.

My save has 160 hours. I still haven't reached the last phase, but I've working on a pointlessly big project of a 300GW Rocket Fuel plant. So far, I have built half of almost everything, while using 200% OC to make up for the rest, but I'll probably end up with 150GW and 100% OC.

TX peak demand in 2025: 85 GW. By 2030: 150gw. We need to increase our supply of power generators, and we should increase the share of power generators that have zero lbs of CO2 emissions.

The news getting you down? I invite you to stare at this chart of solar and wind deployed capacity in China.

They blew past their ambitious 2030 target... last July.
