I feel like some folks would be happier in furry if people realized that this community is a loose federation of many, many smaller collectives and if you are at odds with everybody around you the solution is not to make broad proclamations about "the fandom" but to actually find your people

Hey we just had a bunch of Sherpas tote plutonium up a 25,000 ft mountain in India once and then we just left it up there www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
How Did the C.I.A. Lose a Nuclear Device in the Himalayas? (Gift Article)
A plutonium-packed generator disappeared on one of the world’s highest mountains in a covert mission that the U.S. will not talk about.

Phoenixville Firebird Festival!

It's outside of Philly and the guys next to me have been arguing about Jalen Hurts vs. Tanner McKee the whole time. Go birds.

Had a coworker tell me I was just straight up wrong when I said that ppm and mg/L aren't the same.

I'm about to leave on a vacation, I'm not having this fight right now.

I try not to be a disingenuous pedantic mid-2010s Facebook IFLS person here but this constantly fucks up my data at work.

On one hand, it's super gross to see someone at work openly reading Infowars in 2025.

On the other hand, it's slightly comforting to know that I still have a very comfortable cushion for error before I would ever be in danger of become "the weird guy" at work.

One of my coworkers has been unleashing what I can only call "caloric terrorism" on us at work. No one needs the sheer mountain of fudge, cake, and other snacks they keep leaving in the break room and as the runner of the group everyone expects me to keep falling on the grenades.

At my parent's place and unearthed my retirement account.

(actually got sad at how many other holofoils I used to have that got stolen).

Originally wanted to go into biotech, realized freshman year that I didn't actually like biology, I had just liked my bio teachers to that point. Meanwhile my freshman general chem professor was awful but I still liked the class so I figured that was the sign to switch.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

I actually just did the math and sometime earlier this year I crossed the threshold where I have literally been going to furry conventions for most of my life.

I'm over 38.5 now, first con was just over 19 years ago. Wow.

(I regret nothing).

Holy shit a talking volcano
I've got my electrolyte-enriched water and all day to talk about an incredible volcanic event that took place on May 18, 1980.

Went to see Ne Obliviscaris tonight, great show and I'm psyched I got the opportunity to see them again after last year. Every time I do a concert I always tell myself I should go to more!

I am begging more metal bands to incorporate the glory of the saxophone solo into their music.

Had a nice 38-year run but I'm cooked.

I pulled something in my back earlier this week, and nobody ever "USED to have a bad back."

One of my more basic traits is that I like the rotating nature landscape lockscreens on Windows and have even looked up picture locations to consider trips. This one made me question my own recollection of Kyoto and yeah I definitely was right about Fuji definitely not actually being that close.

Race report: Delaware Trail Fest 12 Hour Lone Wolf division

This was a fixed-time race where you run as many 7-mile loops around a lake as possible in under 12 hours. Weather was perfect! The drought out here kinda muted the fall colors some but there were still some great views!
