Criticism is not a threat to your enjoyment! A work can succeed emotionally and still be worth interrogating. A work can make you happy and still have structural or thematic problems.

We're trapped by structures that have taken on a sort of life of their own. Governments, corps, religion, take your pick really. They use and abuse us to perpetuate themselves. Entities that are willing the burn the planet to the ground so long as they get to dominate it.

I'm constantly disgusted with people who claim everything wrong with the world is down to human nature, attempting to naturalize what ultimately is down to culture and structures. It's only because colonialism has so thoroughly sucked all the air out of the room that anyone can make those claims.
