Turns out the best way to put Americans first is a robust gov't workforce providing services and regulatory oversight, establishing and maintaining a network of global alliance and trade agreements for all, and investing to support our most at risk and vulnerable populations at home and abroad.

Unironically yes, LOWER DECKS is about how the response to the disappointments of the post-Cold War era and the complexity of the modern world should not be despair or cynicism but instead a recommitment to the original ideals of liberalism, thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Fuck this bigot.
Trump nominated a legit white nationalist to a top post at the State Department. I asked him some basic questions about his belief in the “erasure of white culture”. Watch this embarrassing, fumbling answer. Like he has never before been asked to explain his views.

Sure. At the end of the day I'll gladly lock arms with either, and more besides.
i don't particularly disagree with a lot of the critiques of anarchist activism by liberals but I bristle when they act as if their best practices are any wiser. we're here because none of us figured out how to avoid being here.

everyone should have some goddamn humility.

Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

Not that we don’t protest too — we do — but Renee Good and Alex Pretti (and those who witnessed and documented their executions) were legally observing ICE kidnappings and alerting their neighbors to ICE presence. It’s not a protest, it’s a public service. It’s how we’re protecting our neighbors.

i think this MLK day the thing to focus on is the strategic focus and tactical brilliance of the civil rights movement and the way it was laser focused on a set of achievable goals

Alright friends, how many books did we manage to read this year? (Audiobooks count imo)

I managed a meagre 11. To be fair three of those were from the Stormlight archives which are tomes.

My two favorites:

1.) The Wager by D. Grann
2.) Between Two Fires by C. Buehlman

A new "Cesium-137 type benchmark" to help future historians reference where in time these data sets came from.
Just realized that for the rest of my life when I download a household survey data series into FRED I'm going to have to think about the blank from October 2025. A pebble in my shoe that I'm stuck with.
