The media keeps giving bad faith actors the benefit of the doubt. We need to stop taking obvious pretexts at face value.
Open Bluesky to see comments to the effect of ‘well, it might just be an inexperienced head of news because of the failure of the govt to comment’. That is not possible . No matter the level of ‘good faith’. Question is what did the command chain look like?

On Canadian tv if Trump does a press conference they run about 30 seconds then cut away adding “he’s just repeating things he’s been saying for years” that’s what US tv needs to do. Shut him off. He just rambles.

RIP to Tom Stoppard, my favorite playwright. I've seen various level of productions of about five of his works, but ironically not Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.
Have seen a few people passing around this story by Tom Stoppard from just last year, talking about how he learned he was Jewish and also much about his family history, and it's quite a read. He really knew how to write. www.huntingtontheatre.org/2024/09/11/t...

The National Guard is being used as bait for stochastic terrorism. They are being put in highly visible places with no actual duties on purpose. Their unnecessary deployment is evil and despicable.
Alternate take if you are not a Trump toady like Judge Winebox: Performative militarization of a relatively safe city — extremely so around the White House — puts lives unnecessarily at risk. This avoidable tragedy all falls on the administration.

Here's the thing we all knew about Wicked but no one really wanted to acknowledge: All the banger songs are in Act 1, and Act 2 Is just a bunch of ham-fisted setups for gimmicky twist reveals. Its message is anti-fascist though, so it gets a pass from me.
