If you weren’t familiar with Alice’s work, s. e. has a wonderful thread going.
I have a lifetime to think about what a world without Alice in embodied form looks like. To have loved and been loved by her was one of the greatest privileges of my life. I will carry her spirit with me always.
Many thoughts about my cyborg bitch boss goddess accomplice Alice Wong & all the things she meant but there is a tendency for white disabled people to overshadow conversations about disabled BIPOC including in death. I choose to let Alice speak for herself & uplift those she wanted to represent her.
I’m glad my new SSRIs are working so that way I can spend all my newfound energy *checks notes* yearning

Fun fact my apartment building doesn’t have working bathroom vents! I heard them work for a few months this year but there is no fan you can intentionally turn on and the “always circulating” fan doesn’t really exist. My entire apartment gets wet when I shower.
Ventilation was one of the original public health measures featured in early building codes in London and New York City. While contaminated water supplies were the real cause of cholera and typhoid outbreaks, airborne disease spread and high CO2 levels continue to plague modern buildings today.

For the loved ones of someone killed in a traffic crash, every day is a day of remembrance. But many others need a reminder of the devastating human toll traffic violence takes each day. On Sunday, Portlanders gathered to honor the lives lost and demand action to prevent more needless deaths.
Portlanders Gather to Mourn and Demand Action on Day of Remembrance for Traffic Crash Victims
Joe Stone was 25 when he was hit by a driver while trying to cross the street near his home in 2013. Danielle Sale died in 2010, at the age of 22. Henry Zietlow was 18 when he was killed in a traffic ...

Angelita got more pushback from these activists for introducing administrative roadblocks for ICE than Dan Ryan did for calling colleagues Nazis.

The epitome of performative activism is punishing people trying to do positive things while staying silent about inaction—or overtly negative action.
On weds night, after the crowd spent hours saying Angelita was uniquely pro-ICE (???) clr. Koyama lane highlighted that Mitch (a white guy) co-sponsored the reso. The crowd then began bullying Koyama lane
It’s also not lost on me these same folks are praising my male colleague for clarifying the permit process for the ICE building while they’ve raked me through the coals for explaining it.

Genuinely hilarious.

Anyway, my women of color colleagues are fighting everyday for this community in myriad ways, and I couldn’t be prouder of them. I learn from them each day and we are lucky to have them leading in office.

People aren’t monsters because of their bodies.

They are monsters because of their choices that hurt others. Because of the systems that empower them and the beliefs that compel them.
