This spring, we got on @trimet.org to survey 300+ regular transit riders about their needs. Riders want frequency, better shelters and unarmed rider ambassadors.

Please check out my article in The Thorn! It has a link to the full report.

Why aren’t there any military surplus stores in Olympia or Portland (except 1). Where does it all go afterwards. The military is still there

At some point in the past 5 yrs, the transit service we currently have became radical. The level of transit service itself did not change.
Where's the progressive push back on this anti-tax campaign / gubernatorial gambit? Even Trump’s gov't closed DOGE, yet Oregon's anti-gov't extremists want to drag us backward by defunding our transportation system.

I feel like a lone voice in the wilderness on this. www.opb.org/article/2025...
Opponents of Oregon gas tax increase say they’ve cleared key hurdle to let voters weigh in
The initiative needed roughly 78,000 signatures by Dec. 30 to qualify for next year’s election. Backers say they have more than 150,000.

Interestingly, my cat also just got 300,000 signatures for a “wet food for every meal” ballot measure. Waiting to see how this develops.
The campaign hoping to refer Oregon's newly passed gas tax increase to next year's ballot now says it has more than 150,000 signatures -- roughly double of what it needs. #orpol

If you live in sellwood-Moreland, Seth would make a great addition to your neighborhood association. These things always have low turnout… you and some friends can flip a seat
I’m running for an at-large board member seat on the SMILE neighborhood association!

We deserve a Sellwood-Moreland that is welcoming, vibrant, and safe for all.
Please come by SMILE station Dec 3rd @ 7:30 to vote 🗳️

(You can vote if you live, work, or own property in Sellwood-Moreland boundary)

Mixed feelings as the firefighter memorial at 18th and burnside is demolished. It looks like the replacement will be an improvement (and retain the trees…?) but burnside will continue to do psychic damage to anyone hanging out here

Transit “speedrunning” started in 1960 with the “Tube Challenge”, a Guinness world record on London’s underground system. In the 65 years since, it’s spread around the world to transit systems of all sizes, now generically called a “speedrun.”

On weds night, after the crowd spent hours saying Angelita was uniquely pro-ICE (???) clr. Koyama lane highlighted that Mitch (a white guy) co-sponsored the reso. The crowd then began bullying Koyama lane
It’s also not lost on me these same folks are praising my male colleague for clarifying the permit process for the ICE building while they’ve raked me through the coals for explaining it.

Genuinely hilarious.

Hilarious own-goal on PMC’s part here. ICE has truly never been less popular and they just hitched their wagon to it.
Welp, it looks like the Portland Metro Chamber’s solidarity with the community against ICE and a federal invasion ends at charging an impact fee to property owners who would rent their properties to detention facilities that harm neighbors & drain public resources.

Can’t say that we’re surprised!

Gresham's new East County Library is incredible! It's no branch library, but a flagship like Central Library downtown. It's credited to Portland's Holst Architecture, but the design came equally (or more) from Ghanaian-Brit starchitect David Adjaye (who was dropped before construction). WOW.
