The first thing Virginia Spanberger did after being sworn in as Governor of Virginia was repeal Youngkin’s executive order requiring state and local law enforcement to cooperate with ICE.

This is the kind of leadership Democratic governors nationwide should be emulating.

What the…? Grim. If you haven’t been riled up yet, this should get you going.
If ICE and genocide and grift and tyranny weren’t enough, this alone should have fire running down every street in America.

This isn’t the way to live.

We do not have to live this way.

I am not ready for all this.
Every January, I say to myself: "Self. What can the Tennessee legislature do this year to be less helpful to Tennesseans?" I never have to wait long but day one might be a record.

The Tennessee House of Representatives opened the 2026 session passing an bill targeting businesses that hold one drag show in a year.

Read the whole thread.
over the course of 1871, congress held seven months of hearings on ku klux klan and other white vigilante violence in the south, they took detailed testimony from hundreds of black men and women attesting to klan terror. (1/?)

So Calvin and Hobbes hits way different as a dad. 🥹❤️
This strip hits hard because it reminds us how imagination, comfort, and being understood mattered more than winning or explaining anything. #CalvinandHobbes #ChildhoodWonder

Despite what we are often told, this line from Mamdani’s inauguration speech is what true pragmatism actually looks like:

“Beginning today, we will govern expansively and audaciously. We may not always succeed. But never will we be accused of lacking the courage to try.”

The way the word elites has become devoid of all meaning is interesting. It’s a placeholder for “someone I don’t like” and it fascinates me that the people who use it most are wealthy, went to “elite” schools and hold positions of power. Look in the damn mirror. You’re talking about yourself.

i think to understand the meaning of the birthright citizenship clause to the framers of the 14th amendment, you have to understand significance of dred scott to the civil war republican party. dred scott wasn't just a bad ruling, it was understood as a rejection of the declaration itself.

If you’re not educated, you’re easily controlled.

Public schools level the playing field and celebrate free thought.
