it’s so weird to look around and realize like, tech and media are materially worse than a decade ago

I bought a dvd player last year in a fit of rage at streaming services, and have been slowly re-buying all my favorite movies and shows I gave away years ago. I want to OWN things again, not perpetually rent them on worse and worse terms.

What’s wild to me is that my kids’ public school would easily pass this test - we’ve worked so hard to help anyone in the community who needs it, whether or not they have a child at the school. Because we believe no kids should be hungry and that our school is stronger when our community is strong.

Truly, the idea that price shopping is possible is so anti-reality I don’t know how to respond. I have tried HARD many times to get pre-service cost estimates from doctors. Across the board they’ve said they won’t know the price until after the service is performed.

At this point I’ve decided that if I’m even a skosh ace, why not lean into that?
