IV. CONCLUSION The U.S. Constitution affords critical protections against Executive action like that ordered in EO 14230. Government officials, including the President, may not "subject[] individuals to 'retaliatory actions' after the fact for having engaged in protected speech." Hous. Cmty. Coll. Sys., 595 U.S. at 474 (quoting Nieves, 587 U.S. at 398). They may neither "use the power of the State to punish or suppress disfavored expression," Vullo, 602 U.S. at 188, nor engage in the use of "purely personal and arbitrary power," Yick Wo, 118 U.S. at 370. In this case, these and other foundational protections were violated by EO 14230. On that basis, this Court has found that EO 14230 violates the Constitution and is thus null and void. For the reasons explained, plaintiff is entitled to summary judgment and declaratory and permanent injunctive relief on Counts II through IX of the Amended Complaint. It’s one of the first beautiful weekend afternoons of spring and even though we should be doing baths/dinner/bed in preparation for the work and school week we’re just chilling and “arting” in the yard.

Work has been stressful lately but color sorting my kids’ legos is making the days far more bearable.

My 3rd grader’s school does an amazing job teaching math - the students are flexible math thinkers and problem solvers who use tons of strategies and can talk fluently about their thinking. They’re learning the “traditional” borrowing algorithm now though and it’s apparently melting their brains. 😂

Claire’s algorithm, on the right side, shows 528 written above 271. The 5 is crossed out and a 4 is written above it; the 2 is crossed out and a 12 is written above it. My child has added her remarks in pencil. On Andre’s algorithm she writes “Yes” next to the 400 and 120. On Claire’s algorithm she writes “why?” next to the 4 and 12. She solves each in pencil and draws a double pointed arrow between the answers. “Same?” she writes. (They are.) It feels clear from the angle and intensity of her writing that she finds the traditional borrowing algorithm (Claire’s) nonsensical and very confusing.

We’re spending a few days near the woods and away from iPads. Kids arrived with wild energy but a big new pack of markers has dramatically shifted the vibes (and helped reset my patience).

Oldest kid is so intent on learning to sew - but won’t accept any help or instruction from anyone. To her credit though she keeps on working at it.

Plants are so dramatic. 5:48pm, pre-watering, 7:50pm, post watering.
