Here’s my obligatory pinned intro:

Hi! I’m Jessica. I write about movies, mostly of the horror variety. I’ve written for Fangoria, Inverse, Grim, and more. I’ve contributed special features to physical media releases and would love to do more! You can read my work at authory.com/jessicascott.
We never should have let people get away with using “literally” for emphasis.

I desperately wish my dad were here so that I could see his face when I tell him about Text with Jesus. I can hear his booming laugh now.

Thanks for the smile, Text with Jesus. Now go back to 30 Rock or UHF or whichever circle of hell whence you came.

I am annoying the hell out of my very small circle of close friends by obsessing over the feral cat I’m trying to convince to move in with me. It is occasionally an adequate distraction from The Horrors, but it’s also just how I’m built. Here he is snoozing in his outdoor shelter.

Hey, if you know ANYTHING about this, please help identify the driver in this hit-and-run. They just killed a very old and dear friend of mine and I am shattered by this news.

I’ve always found Jacob Elordi mysteriously unsettling, and I finally figured out why: he reminds me of Keir Dullea, who has set me on edge since I first saw him in BLACK CHRISTMAS as a teenager.

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

While I am, of course, accepting lavish gifts for my impending birthday, what I would really love are print sales! because nothing says, “here’s to another turn around the sun!” like paying the rent.

The cruel joke is, if the best entertainment writers currently unemployed DID form a superteam outlet, and DID rise to prominence … the outlet would probably be sold to Valent anyway to be stripped for parts and the cycle would begin again.

Tell me I’m wrong. I so want to be. RIP The Dissolve.

I love that Elon’s response to being called an intellectually incurious clod with internet brain rot is to post even more.

He’s not picking up books that will challenge or surprise or nourish him. He’s not out discovering new favorite films or albums or paintings. Dude’s just internet’ing harder.

just want to add, as a side note, that I find the “; &” to be a weirdly inspired punctuation combo. it has more of a musical value than a grammatical one.
