The Dave Watches The Great Films He's Never Seen Project

The list of films for The "Dave Watches The Great Films He's Never Seen" Project has hit 120 (including those I've already watched over the last few weeks). That should keep me busy for a while.

And i'm absolutely fucking tired of seeing "what if the Nazis did better" explored in games.
And if you are interested in that topic, ask yourself "why do I want to see the Nazi's do better?", what possible itch of curiosity is that scratching?
Not only is it fanboying evil, its boring as hell.

Travelling to Auckland for most of the week, but you can tell my brain is extremely scattered at the moment because I completely forgot to bring any of my coffee things with me. Genuinely don't remember the last time I was away from home for more than two days without taking my aeropress.

I feel like we have the opportunity to turn David Lynch's quote into this moment's "Keep Calm and Carry On" and it's a far better rallying cry too.

Again a systemic story that's bigger than the individual bits: a govt which ran into power in large part based on banging the localism drum about water has accelerated the pace of centralised - and personal Ministerial - decision-making.
This is a big story about this govt. Someone should tell it.

Yet another power grab.
“These approvals would be given directly to the Minister of Conservation without the input of either the Conservation Boards or the NZCA.
"This board also has concerns that the proposed draft document also appears to limit input by iwi."

Maybe the fashion girlies just want to read some early Christian philosophy, it's not that unusual RNZ, get some perspective. He's not JUST for Brewers, Printers, and Theologians.

Parliament just passed the Parliament Bill. It's not a perfect piece of legislation (because nothing ever is), but it is a tremendously important step to ensuring the independence of the legislature — and, hopefully, providing some important safeguards for our democratic and political system. #NZPOL

I don't have a problem with media reporting on what NZF put in the biscuit tin, but it would be nice if they did this even handedly (and come on, folks, there's up to 120 free articles in there because every MP will happily talk to you about their bill!)

To be clear, I don't actually think the problem is with individual reporters, I think the problem is with news outlets no longer having a proper editorial process and the lack of all subeditors. All writing is a team sport, and journalism is no different.
It's a form of misinformation when the media incorrectly tells us that proposed member's bills have been introduced, and I don't think it's too much to ask for political reporting to get the basic stuff right. #NZPOL

For various reasons I gave notice at my job yesterday, so I'm looking down the barrel of Job Hunting In December And January. Which is intimidating, but also I really need a break, so I won't grumble too much.

Marlon Williams (Kāi Tahu, Ngāi Tai) won the APRA Silver Scroll Award last night, probably Aotearoa New Zealand's most prestigious songwriting award, for the song Aua Atu Rā. His album of waiata Māori is probably my favourite album of the year, and if you haven't listened to it yet then you must.
