All around me are familiar faces —
Worn out places, worn out faces.
Bright and early for their daily races —
Going nowhere, going nowhere.
Their tears are filling up their glasses —
No expression, no expression.
Hide my head, I want to drown my sorrow —
No tomorrow, no tomorrow.

I had a goal this year of reaching 100 newsletter subscribers. But instead my growth tapered and has hovered around 70 almost all year. And now the end of the year is approaching. So I’m gonna send out the bat signal and see if I can hit that goal. Please consider subscribing or sharing it. 1/2

During my interview with #horror author @lanacasiello.bsky.social, I asked her why she writes. This is a snippet of her response. I’ll try to get her micro-interview written up and published before the end of the month. Stay tuned for that. #WritingCommunity #Booksky

Wish my #IndieAuthor career could be “led into exile” and “California up in flames” in such a way that Vanity Fair would help advertise my forthcoming book.

Aside: RFK Jr 💯 should have also had consequences in this scandal. Instead, he got given a high position in our government is causing harm.
Vanity Fair's West Coast Editor Olivia Nuzzi was a star political correspondent until scandal led her into exile—and to a California up in flames.

In an excerpt from her book, ‘American Canto,’ she takes stock of scorched earth.

My latest newsletter just dropped which has an update on my schooling. Please clap.

I’m also looking for Producer tier subscribers. These subscribers will be my teammates who help fund the newsletter and pay for authors and poets who contribute free pieces to the library. More at the link on that.

the point of camo for a soldier is to obscure their position from the enemy. camo in an urban environment is completely different, and this forest green or desert pattern is functionally useless.

police only dress this way to project an image of power they should not have.

This past Halloween was two book anniversaries for me. Sweet Sixteen Killer turned 5 years old and Her Last Halloween turned 2 years old. To honor that, the two of them are free as a digital bundle and the third story Jonah of Olympic is $2 off.

I think two ideas can help people lead a decent life. And that’s “be kind to each other” and “don’t be a dick.” They’re simple ideas. The first is to default to kindness with people. The second is to avoid being ugly to people. Many people fail both concepts on the daily which is sad.

The interview w/ @lanacasiello.bsky.social went great. A little longer than I’d hoped. I’m trying to pull out some deep thoughts in these and even with a short list of questions, we managed to talk for over an hour.

We discussed Lana’s Hawaiian heritage, generational trauma and why she writes.
