I just ran into a new (and impossible) security verification which I guess is being used to train AI, but what the hell.

For the record, the panda in overalls was NOT the correct answer, and the sheep with dots was ALSO not the correct answer.
A security verification that says “please select the image that matches the one on the right.” The image on the right looks like an AI generated image of a panda wearing an apron standing outside a house with a chicken in front of it. There are nine options: an elephant wearing a tiger cap at the wheel of a sailing ship; a panda wearing overalls in a farm with a scarecrow behind him, a wold crouching in an abandone building, a duck, a large close up of a panda, a calf, another panda, slightly low close, walking on a stone path, a monkey holding a banana in a pumpkin field, and a cartoon panda surrounded by bows. Another security verification that asks me to match the image on the right. The image on the right is a sheep in a field of sunflowers. People need to understand that American fascism probably isn't going to stop with Trump. The structures that made Trump are already there and will continue to exist for the foreseeable future.

This might be a longer struggle, and we need to be prepared for it.

okay sorry I cannot shut the fuck up about this topic, instead of another massive thread, here
okay thinking about this further- it's hard to really explain media literacy in bite size pieces, but tldr- the kids shows or games these fans are used to consuming are purposefully written to spell out how the characters feel, how you're supposed to feel, "this character is SAD because-" type writing. That's awesome when you're writing things for 8 year olds, but when you're an adult you should be able to glean that by now without a little sad musical cue and a close-up on their sad looking face. I think fans begin to see these as hardfast rules that, when a thing doesn't abide by them, they're not obeying the rules, become unpredictable to them, and that's "bad writing". They get angry at the writers for not following the rules, that it's "confusing" and that makes them angry and they lash out lol Media literacy is, as far as I understand boiling down a complex concept into a single thing, the ability to hold several truths at the same time. Like, say Nucky Thompson hates his abusive father, so he tries to be a good surrogate father to his mistress' kids. But he refuses to marry her, because he feels like he'd be replacing his dead wife. On the other end, Nucky treats Jimmy coldly despite being a father figure, thus becoming the cold father his own dad was to him, because he wants Jimmy to become the cold self-reliant gangster he is, which he credits to his fathers' coldness. He's a bunch of living contradictions, and you can hold all these truths at the same time if you pay attention. When you can't manage that, you'd have fans who would say "omg you like him? he's a monster!! if you like him you're also a monster!" or "omg you hate him? he's a victim of abuse, it isn't his fault! he's trying!!" I'm not saying hazbin hotel is that complex, I'm just trying to illustrate here that things become richer when you let them be richer and don't get mad when there's a spice in your food you didn't see in the AO3 hashtags on the menu, you know?
