Canada’s combined wind and solar is about 8% - a disgraceful amount considering that countries with less ideal circumstances utilize that combination to produce in the range of 35-43% of their energy needs.
Solar is amazing but, depending on latitude, solar and wind is the optimum combination for Canada. Wind in the winter, spring and autumn matches lower solar. Germany, UK good examples. UK last year (not the sunniest place) got 35% of it's power just from wind and solar with solar growing fast 🤔

I remember when Canada had some of the smartest solar energy minds on the planet. Our government refused to invest anything into that energy sector, instead spending everything on oil and gas, so those minds went to Germany and helped them become a world leader in solar energy.
