CW: Capital punishment

The death penalty is disgusting. If we didn't have it, we wouldn't have these additional problems due to it.

Why is Nintendo so draconian and weird and over-engineering when it comes to anything internet or account related? Why did I have to link my switch 1 to my switch 2 before it would let me download a switch 2 exclusive game to my switch 2? WTF Nintendo!?

Motherfuckers are saying, "You don't need to make art or write your feelings or understand literature or research ideas: have this Rube Goldberg machine drain a small town's water supply to spit out the wrong answer instead!"

Why would I give up the things I love to be worse at things?

📯For the 🇺🇸 and folk who weren't around 12 hours ago...

I'm excited to announce Siegecaster, an active skill-based siege defense game I've been developing with a really great group of folks. It'll have a demo in February's Next Fest.

Steam link follows with teaser and more details! RTs appreciated!

No consumers have requested--or even want--these AI 'features'. They are being forced upon us because companies flushed tons of cash down the AI toilet and are unable to deal with sunk cost syndrome.

But there is no payday waiting at the end of the AI death spiral, only more annoying waste.
One of the biggest undiscussed/underdiscussed stories of the year is how bad Apple Intelligence is. It's the first time I can remember Apple forcing such a questionable and poorly-designed product on users
As I said -- only a matter of time before news orgs lashed out at Apple's lackluster (and evidently dangerously wrong) AI summaries of their work. This is shambolic and the BBC has every right to be furious about it.

Every major tech company has their fingers in the gen ai pie. And I used to like pie. It used to not taste like fingers.

I kid you not, @itch.io has been taken down by Funko of "Funko Pop" because they use some trash "AI Powered" Brand Protection Software called Brand Shield that created some bogus Phishing report to our registrar, iwantmyname, who ignored our response and just disabled the domain

You're right, oh wise cultural analyst. I should spend my day arguing with WhiteSavior1488 about the prevalence of Jews in the entertainment industry and not posting about how much I love soup and how at the end of the day all we have is eachother

I used the Command pattern to get around a problem where complex tasks in my game couldn't be serialized.

I feel like part of maturing is realizing that not every hill is worth dying on. However, fuck gen ai. If I have to die on that hill, then living isn't worth it.

I never had that high of a follower count on Twitter, but if you subtract the bots, I think I've already got more than that here!

I wish I had as much cool stuff to share as I see here... I guess I made progress on porting my game to PS5 so that's cool

Sometimes it feels like the main product of capitalism is the anxiety of being in a state of not adding value. If you're not making money (and not already rich) then you're effectively in a state of economic free fall. How is this "the best system we can come up with"?

There may be a future for us after all!
a lot of grocery stores and whatnot have specific policies against distributing questionable unsold food for presumed human consumption but retail employees typically hate how much shit goes to waste and if you say it's for livestock they'll just hand it over. that's News You Can Use
the produce guy at the co-op was throwing out some slightly tragic strawberries so I asked if I could have them "for my chickens".

gentle readers, I will not be feeding them to chickens. I am going to make wine out of them.
