A story I found about Haiti:
In 1999, a group of Haitians were tired of political disorder and dreamed of a better life in the United States. So they built a small, 23-foot boat by hand using pine trees, scrap wood, and used nails. They called the boat "Believe in God."

I have library cards in NC (home base) and DC (school). The DC library has 45 copies of Heated Rivalry in Libby, with 300+ people waiting and a 16 week wait. The NC library…doesn’t have Heated Rivalry in Libby AT ALL!

Today in “things the US has done that make me want to scream”: when the US invaded Iraq in 2003, super important Neanderthal fossils housed in Iraq (from Shanidar cave) were “lost” which means they were either looted and are now in private hands (never to be seen again) or someone blew the up 😡

This resignation letter is such an interesting combination of actual truth and insight mixed with racist dogwistles. It’s like she has some of the right puzzle pieces, but puts them together wrong.

Okay, Ezra is confirming that he's hearing D senators are actually plotting to cave to Trump and end the shutdown WITHOUT any extension of the ACA, just a promise of a vote later down the line.

This type of thing is always bad, but it’s often an archaeologists dream (something we’re not allowed to destroy to excavate but nature did the destroying so now we have an excuse to poke around)
