This format is great. It gets each team a home game to kick up playoff buzz & builds storylines.
The only thing is that it should be a Sat - Wed - Sun format across the board, so we dont get teams off for 3 weeks if they sweep the opening round.

This is going to be a superb match between quality sides. Its a shame we have to wait 3 weeks, but maybe it means a few more Caps recover in time to play.
Imo, the winner of this match is favored to go to MLS Cup.

MLS Clubs who's majority owner doesnt control its stadium:
NYCFC*
Chicago*
Vancouver**
Seattle
San Diego
*new stadium on the way
**for sale
We think of Seattle as a model franchise (which it is!), but its finances are really, really off without a stadium deal.
We can look at NYCFC as to why

Fun fact: 13 MLS players have sold for more than 10m euro. Only 2 have been misses (or not living up to the price eventually): Santi Rodriguez & Pity Martinez. 85% Hit Rate!
MLS has bought 15 players for 10m+ euros. Of them 7.5 have been misses, only 50% hit rate.

It's time for my favorite piece of content we do every year: our fan survey.
This year, we're collaborating with over 20 independent outlets to try and get it out to as many people as we can! If you have even a passing interest in Major League Soccer, could you take a minute and fill this out?

This should be a PK. If Bongi didn't shoot and just fell, it would've been a PK.

Im not buying the 3.7m aggregate viewers (or 250k/game average) per MLS week, at least, at face value.
Earlier this year it was reported the number for MLS was closer to 120k/game, which in itself was a 50% increase. This seems more right from a streaming number.
If they're getting that up to

One of the best things about the Apple move for MLS has been the leap in broadcast production vs national/regional beforehand.
If that doesn't happen with F1, it'd be kind of disappointing.

BBC noted in its piece that they're likely to buy in Sky or use F1TV's feed rather than produce on its own.

MLS Cup playoffs are free on Apple TV (formerly plus) this year. Unlike last year, there's no requirement to sign up for a trial of Season Pass. That reads to me like a shift, but nothing concrete. We probably won't know for sure until February, anyway.

A thread on why the F1 to AppleTV deal is good for MLS (but bad for F1).
F1 is coming off viewership growth on ESPN, with a race weekend averaging 1.8m viewers from race to qualifiers, etc.
But switching to AppleTV lowers the households you're in by half or more. And you lose ESPN editorial.

The leader in G+ in MLS Next Pro this season is Nick Fernandez, from Town FC (SJ).
He's at 5 G+ as a defensive midfielder with a positive metric across all metrics and has the second highest G+ in the last 4 seasons (even more than Freeman in '24)
Maybe someone to look out for next year!
