Shiny Entertainment put out an excessively detailed press kit for MDK with photos of every team member, their office space, developer diaries, concept art, and more

Victor wanted us to change in-game Lara to appeal more to a Japanese audience. Huge eyes/head etc. They faxed through examples really late in dev. Toby Gard really didn't want to alter Lara. As a compromise all that was changed was the manuals & guide. Not sure who did that render or illustrations.
@cnhyv.bsky.social Hello Paul, do you have any info on this? I've found an old post of yours talking about the illustrations (xcancel.com/cnhyv/status...) but what about the 3D render? Was that also part of Victor Interactive's "suggestions"?

Did you know that the Japanese version of the infamous Zero Wing (Genesis) has 35 freaking endings? You get them for beating each loop and the ending text grows increasingly crazier each time.

Stunt Island
The Assembly Line / Walt Disney Computer Software 1992

In this game you can position cameras on the island, program the movement of objects, fly with aircrafts and then edit your own stunt movies.
This is the "location scouting" demo that comes with the game, showing the scenery.

just for fun, I put together some comparison clips of tile skewing vs scanline subdivision, plus some bonus debug visualization 🧵

you'll have to bear with me tho. bluesky only allows 1 video per post, so there's gonna be a lot. upside: more yapping, more nerd details.

*Shining the Holy Ark* for Saturn has a cool hidden sound matching game! I made a patch to enable it.

A series of sounds play, and you're meant to press X, Y, or Z with them. The debug menu activates if you win.

It's too fast for me, but maybe you can beat it?

Keep hearing devs say that they only use ai for "pre-concept art"

There is no pre-concept art. There is concept art. That's where the idea starts. With the concept.
