- Lots of nights these days encourage people not to heckle. That’s nice! Love that.
- many people are really friendly and supportive and it’s been a delight to meet other aspiring comics.

I feel I have been "like a crocodile in a wallet factory" many times in my life.
There’s a Dutch phrase about feeling anxious that translates to “shitting seven colours of sludge.” A Bulgarian version is “deep in thought like a fat pig before Christmas.” But my favourite variant is the Puerto Rican como cocodrilo en fábrica de carteras, or “like a crocodile in a wallet factory.”

I use “bucket”, “ladder” and “appliance” a great deal in this context.

Found out today that the word ‘rebarbative’, meaning repellant/grim etc, is from the Latin for ‘beard’, as in ‘irritating and prickly, like a beard’. OED links it to the idea of confrontationally standing ‘beard-to-beard’. Sorry, beardy friends. (I do not find you rebarbative. I married one of you.)

People have interpreted this as a call for a boycott, when I actually want a wealth tax so aggressive it'd make Lenin say, "steady on, lad" if Lenin talked like Wallace from Wallace and Gromit.
A lot of people want to separate the art from the artist, but I would settle for separating the artist from her money.

Have read too much lore about deep sea fish this week. Learned about some very large creatures. Increasingly coming to the conclusion that the sea is terrifying. I just - we should leave it alone, you know. We should be cautious about the shit that's Dwelling down there.
