🙂
EXCLUSIVE: So far it's been unclear what proof Rockstar Games has to justify its firing of 34 union members, who it claims were leaking "confidential information in a public forum".

PMG has now seen some of the messages which contributed to this decision being made.

UBISOFT - Call for strike

Following the disastrous announcements made by Mr. Yves Guillemot (cost-cutting plan, projects scrapped, end of remote working, etc.), the Solidaires Informatique union is calling for a strike on Thursday, January 22, in the morning.

Amazing news! Chris is hands down one of the best games journalists out there, and a really nice guy too!
PMG won the Knickerbocker Award for Best Games Journalism last night at the @nyvgcc.bsky.social!

It feels like we've come such a long way since we first launched this thing nearly eight years ago, but winning a journalism award at an event in NEW YORK CITY still seems totally mad to me.

I'm catching up with details of the arguments Rockstar made to justify firing 34 people summarily and good god this is some thin bullshit. They really don't bother lying any more do they.

Our statement concerning the decision to not grant interim pay relief to the member's fired by Rockstar. We remain confident in the strength of our case against Rockstar Games and we reiterate our firm belief that Rockstar broke the law when it summarily dismissed 31 union members.

We'll be publishing our full report from the hearing tomorrow afternoon (UK time), but needless to say, there's an awful lot of additional context to understand about what happened here.

This is a really tough outcome for the union's members, especially those who were in the UK on work visas.
BREAKING: A UK judge has *denied* interim pay to the 31 employees fired by Rockstar Games last year, saying she "was unable to conclude that it appears likely that the tribunal will find that the principal reason for the claimants’ dismissal" was union organizing www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
Fired Rockstar Employees Denied Pay by UK Judge
The 31 staffers argued they were dismissed for unionizing. Rockstar said they were fired for leaking information in an online chat group.

This is perhaps a good time to mention that I attended this preliminary hearing at the start of the week, met some of the fired union members in its aftermath and have been able to review Rockstar's evidence in-person for myself.

We'll have more to share once the result has been announced.

It’s been a bit of a wild end to the year. When I started out in 2025 I definitely didn’t expect getting fired and appearing in an interview on the BBC to be on the list of things to come…

We're also running another fundraiser too! This one, like last time, is for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund.

Back in 2023, PMG viewers donated $67,000 to the PCRF, which is mad.

I've no idea if that's possible again here, but please consider chucking a few quid into the pool, if you can.

This is very, very kind!

Anni and I have been juggling PMG with raising a very lively almost-two-year-old and it's taken us a while to properly find our feet again, to be honest. Knowing our work has mattered to some folks this year is really appreciated.

Keir Starmer was just asked about the Rockstar firings in Parliament today where he described the situation as "deeply concerning" and promised it would be looked into by government ministers.

Not that a Starmer promise is worth much, mind.
